Wiim Sound Lite to replace Dali Oberon 5's

Ah! Sez you. That explains a lot.

Yup those damn laws of physics getting in the way.

8" subwoofer will be ok in a bedroom system but for medium/large room won't be sufficient.

Also phone microphones aren't accurate in low frequencies so the EQ measurement from a phone could make it worse, should give a warning about that.

@Mr Ee Thank you for this elaborate replication of my intended Wiim Sound setup 👍

That pretty much does it for my intentions of getting the Sound Lites to use in a 2.1 setup with the Ultra as the main source.

I could perhaps live with a bit of a deterioration in sound from my Oberon 5's, but any lagging or out of sync-business is a no go.

Wonder if this is something Wiim might improve on, but for now I am steering clear of the Sounds.

Thanks again! 🙏

No problem.
I think wifi combined with the low delay is the killer here.
I may try it again later with all devices on ethernet.

I have previously used the following setup without those sync issues, but not very often and not recently, so I'll give it another whirl later.
Tv optical out to wiim pro, optical group delay set to 70ms, a 2nd wiim pro in the group, both pros on ethernet.

To have any chance of getting two WiiM Sound in sync and in phase you have to connect both to the same smart switch (local routing) via Ethernet. Anything else will have too high network jitter to allow the LinkPlay software to keep it in sync.

Could I not use any sub, as I would be keeping my Wiim Ultra in the setup?
I would not use the WiiM Sound or Sound Lite purely as active speakers with the WiiM Ultra. It doesn't make sense to pay for three streamers and DSPs.

I also don't believe that the sound quality and specifically the dynamics could match your existing speakers.

Your wife should have gotten used to them by now. If not, tell her you are thinking about getting a pair of EPIKORE 11 or KORE. As a compromise and sign of good will you can offer to stick with your current speakers, instead.

I think user experience and opinions will differ based on their preferences, expectations, room size, etc... Being in a 2 bedroom apartment, my living room is not too big and a stereo pair of WiiM Sounds with a Sub Pro have been more than fine to me as my main music setup. I do have an ultra in another room but I have not tried the TV setup with the Sounds.

Sure!

But if I remember correctly, @Giro413 has a somewhat bigger room to fill with good sound, with a pretty high ceiling.

Getting the right gear for your actual listening conditions is the number one rule nobody seems to be willing to obey. ;)

Apparently, you did. :D

You do remember quite well, Sir. These are my dimensions (and setup) as of 30 secs ago. Measured the lazy way, but they are not much off. Happy Friday, everyone 🍻IMG_7441.jpeg

Hello everyone. Been a while, hope everyone is doing well.

On my latest "let's see what's going on in the world of Wiim" - forum run down, I have fallen in love with the Wiim Sound Lite (stereo pair). Or rather, I have fallen for the idea of being able to get great sound out of something that my wife approves of visually. This setup is in our main living room, so it caters to both tv-sound (through Wiim Ultra) and streaming, as well as an occasional vinyl record.

Currently my setup consists of a Wiim Ultra, two Dali Oberon 5 floor standers powered by two Fosi Audio V3 Mono's, and an Argon S850 sub.

Now the question is if it is at all feasible that I will enjoy the sound from two stereo-mathced Sound Lite's, instead of my Oberon 5's? I have not been able to find any real reviews of the Sound yet?

I am strongly considering giving it a try and just order a set of Sound Lite's...But before doing so, I just wonder if someone here has any knowledge that might sway me in one or the other direction. Are Wiim speakers cutting it or should they stick to streamers?

Ps. I am considering also getting a Wiim Sub Pro at some point, as I really enjoy the Wiim framework. I also run a Wiim Pro Plus in the dining room (hooked up to my old Denon receiver).

I really appreciate anyone reading along and perhaps even sharing some know how. Thanks.
A pure madness

Well I must be lucky because I have 5 devices on wifi perfectly in sync

This looks like a beautiful place and I think these fine speakers are a perfect visual match. Go ahead and tell your wife about my comment. ;)

I'm also sure that your Ultra is an appropriate front-end to ensure great sound with the speakers all the way to the front wall. (y)

Seeing this room and how the current speakers fit in I would seriously advise not to further pursue your plan with the Sounds. You can only loose, both sound wise and visualy.

Compromise reached! It seems that just moving the speakers out towards the end walls some, greatly increases WAF. 🤣

Have had to toe them in some, which I know is not optimal for these speakers. However, all are happy with the equipment. Should probably run room correction again though, right?

Thanks to each one of you who made me fall back in love with my setup. Have really been enjoying my listening this weekend.

By the way, for anyone else into lofi hip hop, this new Roc Marciano album is fantastic 🔥

Excellent.

But seeing your entertainment wall I would exchange the wall rack against a lowloard below the TV. But that‘s just optics.

With speakers that far apart I'd add a center
