I have been waiting for Persistent Group for a long time!

Thank you for this past year. I wish you continued success in 2025.

Happy New Year to all! 🤗🎉

This morning I queried progress re CastLite and asked if whitelisted firmware for that would still get updates - so they whitelisted my Ultra, and now this comes along. Hope I get this update too or I'll come off the Castlite whitelist as I'd use Persistent Groups and the upcoming Smart Presets more than chromecast...

It seems that all WiiM devices need to be updated to use Persistent Group.

I tried to create a new group, but only Ultra appears in the list and nothing happens when press the next button. I'll have to wait for next year 😂.

The list on latest roadmap has few things remaining on features set. After that just probably just bug fix.

You just need a lot of Ultras 🤣

Question. I have been on the whitelist since my second week with the Ultra (October) do you know are we any closer to not needing a whitelist for the Castlite issue. Would like to be on the most current firmware versions. It's hard to know you place when your firmware never matches. Seems to me there are enough people on the whitelist they should have a thread for that.

I posted the cast firmware version of Ultra's device info which can be seen in the Google home app. Where do I look?

I am not familiar with Chromecast.😅
Right, and thank you! My Google Home app shows 1.56.xxxxx for the current FW I have. Yours shows 1.68.cast ... I wonder if that is still the old one or the CastLite 2. Maybe someone knows. At one point there was a poster here who was working for Google... maybe he chimes in.

From what I can see 1.68 is CastLite 2 and flaky - 1.56 is the performant Chromecast we’ve known and loved in previous devices…

No issues with the old Chromecast on the Ultra?
Just did a quick check today between meal preparations and it seemed as solid as the Pro and Plus. Wonder why they’re trying to push CastLite 2 when the previous version works ok with earlier models as well as the Ultra. Probably shouldn’t say it but it’s a bit like the lack of support for a certain other feature, never mind the absence of Alexa on the WiiM edition audio pro speakers - there doesn’t seem to be any sense to it
