Please review the WiiM Ultra update release notes below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us. This firmware update is being rolled out in stages, with devices updating sequentially over the next few days.

5.2.638250 (In Progress)

Release date:

12 / 10 / 2024

Bug Fixes:
  1. Remote Pairing: Resolved issues preventing WiiM Remote from connecting to devices.
  2. USB Indexing: Fixed unexpected interruptions during USB scans.
  3. Playback Enhancements:
    • Enhanced switching between Qobuz and AVS.
    • Improved Roon playback stability when USB Audio Out is disconnected.

I’m a new Wiim Ultra user and would love to see sub output enabled while using usb out. Crossing my fingers that this is actually coming soon.

WiiM have said they are working on it and hopefully will issue beta firmware in a few weeks time.

Successfully updated.
Is it just my sensation or some good smoothing has been added to the VU visualization?
Interesting, not at home right now but will check later, how do you mean smoothing? in way of motion or in the sharpness of the actual graphics?

It just seems like the refresh rate was increased.
Even appreciating it a lot, I'm wondering how much these -cosmetic- updates would impact on the computing available power.

It has the same CPU (ARM A53) as used in many phones (Samsung Galaxy S6) so you need not worry, it can handle a simple animation based on level input and decode a sound file simultaneously.

Remember those phones can/could play pretty advanced games, do multitasking and play Spotify all at the same time :)

The WiiM is doing a lot more than just "simple animations" and "apply a audio codec". It is applying 10x Mathematical Convolutions to each Channel at up to 192khz for PEQ/RC (not a light CPU task).

Of course, but I meant specifically for the UI animation. Either way, I would be interested in how it actually performs that, via integrated functions in it’s DAC, via onboard ARM cpu, and if it actually does it in 24/192KHz or not, as we only know what comes out, not what happens during.
Unless you have insider information.

Yeah quite a few room EQ systems have to drop 192 to 48khz.Not many room EQ can perform Eq native 192 or 383 MHz dsd

Would be interesting finding out this is any different

It mostly depends how the display is wired to the SoC. If it's SPI it's going to limit the refresh rate somewhat (and might also be a bit more CPU intensive depending mostly of how good the SPI controller in the SoC is).

@WiiM Support, @RyanWithWiim, @WiiM Team,

Are you having difficulty developing persistent groups?

I am having problems with Spotify connect due to a persistent group I created in beta, when I connect to Ultra (a stand alone device) the Linkplay group is removed. I am having a very hard time...😢😢😢

I have reinstalled the Spotify app but cannot delete the persistent group from the list of device connections. I do not want to delete data.

Is it possible to install again if there is the latest beta firmware available?

Thank you.
