What's New:

1. Smart DNS: Enables faster playback startup and smoother streaming.
2. Time Sync: More robust NTP timing for music service login.
3. Playback Screen Options: Added 3 new styles with large title display (requires upcoming app update).
4. Playback Enhancements:
   • Faster startup for Amazon Music.
   • Reduced interruptions on HDMI ARC and Optical inputs.
5. Screen Updates:
   • Displays full artwork for certain MP3s.
   • Shows album name on playback screen.
   • Fixed alias name display on VU Meter.
6. USB Indexing: Now uses album artist metadata for better organization.
7. System Optimization: Reduced CPU load during simultaneous Sub and USB output.

I just opened a ticket with support because my wiim ultra is waking up from sleep when it detects signal in optical in. To reproduce the issue, I have wiim ultra input set to optical in. I stop audio play using the app and then put wiim ultra to sleep. As long as optical in is selected, Wiim will wake up when signal is detected in optical in no matter the current auto sensing configiration. I don't think that this is correct behavior.

My WiiM Ultra updated to this release today, and the "Search" tab at the bottom of the WiiM Home App screen refuses to find anything from my USB library (held on a USB SSD). The files are there, as I can find them using the "Browse" tab and searching from there, but the Search function itself seems not to work now. I've re-scanned the USB drive, but to no avail.

Has anybody else seen this?

When I use the search at the top of the usb drive in browse that works

Could someone please explain specifically how this change will aid "better organisation"?

The interval between choosing a track from Tidal and its actual start has now finally become MUCH faster. So for me the update is a great improvement because that lag was such an annoyance.

Wasn't it the case that Various Artists albums appeared as multiple albums under the track artist names in the library?

That’s what I thought it was for, as I use Various Artists for quite a number of compilation albums featuring many different artists.

That is (was?) the case. The main issue for me was where an album for instance had 10 tracks for artist A but 1 track for A (featuring B). Is the expectation that changing 'album artist' to the 'main artist's' name for example will bring everything into a single album under a single artist?

I think so, and I assume compilations will be grouped together as one album under Various Artists or whatever the Album Artist is.

I have two Wiim Ultra devices both working off the same router on the same network. Both are playing UK radio stations, Amber Radio and the other on Greatest Hits Radio. My Android cellphone indicated a new update (v5.2.720535) is available and would I like to update both devices, to which I agreed as I usually do.

The first Ultra streaming Amber Radio Ultra has updated successfully to this latest version, yet the second Ultra (GHR) states that there are no new updates available and remains on v5.2.719248 - Jun 6, 2025.

Why would this be?

Yep, search is being strange as no findings are made.

What else would you call it? The Radio button on home screen is completely broken after this firmware update. Is that good QA? No it's very very bad QA!!!
