What's New:
  1. Smart DNS Enhancement: Improved Smart DNS behavior by checking the legitimacy of the DNS server returned by the router.
  2. HDMI ARC Upgrade:
    • Eliminated pop/crackle noises.
    • Added Auto-Sensing for instant TV-audio pickup.
    • Improved the stability of ARC connections.
  3. Advanced Parametric EQ: High-Pass & Low-Pass filters now available (App v3.2.6+ required).
  4. Deezer: "Play Next / Play Last" options added.
  5. Bluetooth: Adjustable latency for perfectly synced audio.

Bug Fixes:
  1. Soundtrack Pairing: Fixed an issue preventing successful soundtrack pairing.
  2. Gapless Playback: Fixed an issue causing incomplete audio playback.
  3. USB Indexing: Corrected the extraction of PNG format covers from MP3 files and fixed a crash issue that caused playback to stop.
  4. Qobuz Connect: Fixed an issue where playback would automatically resume after pausing when using USB output.
  5. Phono Input: Resolved a no-sound issue when editing input mode via the app.

It's amazing just how much trouble this ARC input can be. Probably 80% of my issues/reliability concerns with my WiiM Ultra have stemmed from the ARC input in one way or another.

The @WiiM Team don't seem to understand the use cases for the ARC?

I have tried to explain it to them for almost a year now (in 6 different tickets) and they change it time after time but not for the better.

My only solution is to disconnect the HDMI cable except in the few cases where I actually need it the TV sound over the big speakers.

80% of all digital input woes are due to HDMI ARC, irrespective of make or model.

It always worked the way I need it, no matter which edge cases ;) did not.

I’m glad that I have no use for it. 🙂
Yeah, unfortunately, having it is one of my main reasons for sticking with it (as opposed to competing streamers lacking this input).

Well to be fair, I haven't had these issues of it working or taking over my streamer when I don't want it to. Personally, the issues I've had were where it would not produce any sound from ARC input yet worked fine with line in input (source being TV for both inputs). They recently whitelisted my TV make/model and now ARC does output sound consistently, but then I have lip sync/lag issues over ARC that are not there with analog line in. The frustration never ends with this ARC function.

The update failed for me several times, even after several restarts, even a cold start, and now it's supposedly up to date? 1000017535.png

Has the update been withdrawn?

These are interesting. Even with Q=0.1, there's an odd peak.

Can you not use optical input for TV sound? This works well for me on the rare occasions that I want my TV sound to go to my WiiM devices.

Only ARC input allows my Apple TV remote to directly control the WiiM's volume, as opposed to controlling the volume of the TV separately (so if my WiiM isn't at [close to] full volume, it might not get loud enough). This is a potential issue whenever my wife or kids try to watch stuff.

Even this new update, with all HDMI settings off, highjacks the TV ARC. Now it just don't change input to TV.

If I change all HDMI settings to on and then to off again, then I get the sound back to the TV!

Then I can select TV as input and that works correctly, changing the TV to ARC. Selecting another input on the WiiM do however not change sound back to the TV.

The lib-sync do however look like working for now.

My WiiM has a remote control, that I use to control its volume, and I wouldn't want any other remote control to hijack this feature.

Yeah, it's a lot simpler for the rest of my family to have just one remote for everything, and by everything I mean controlling the Apple TV 4K, the TV, and the volume (the WiiM).

Music listening is solely my domain and I have no issue grabbing other remotes for that, but for them (especially my mother-in-law and my 5- and 7-year-old kids), one remote is just easier.

That's rather a bizarre concept, you should give them instructions to use the correct remote controls for each item.

Next issue with ARC.

When streaming on the WiiM (Radio) and I turn on my TV the WiiM changes the CEC/ARC on the TV to external speakers but continue streaming on the Ultra.

All HDMI/ARC settings are off.

I can now control the volume on WiiM with my TV remote even though it's streaming radio!

The sound on the TV is of course gone.
