"TIDAL Connect: Fixed playback interruptions after ~1 hour."

Can we get more information about this fix? There have been a lot of messages and discussions about playback interruptions concerning Tidal on the forum for some time now....

Can you give a little bit more information regarding Audio Spectrum: Better timing alignment with playback?

Not trying to be funny, but I'd have thought it was fairly self evident.
Right now, before the update, the spectrum doesn't match the music. It's so obviously out of sync, like poor lip sync, that it's painful to watch.

Yes, I get that it's currently slow enough to effectively be just a visualization that resembles the music but isn't actually useful as a real time tool, unlike RME or Topping displays. I'm looking for technical details, did they improve the performance by 30%, what frame rate does it run at now, how much input lag is there. You can improve by 1% and claim it's improved, but that is not enough to make me want to use it. This and the VU meter need to be approaching 60fps with like 50ms of input lag to be "useful" and not just a novelty.

For me, this update is not available... When I check, it say - Up to date. Version is 5.2.736552

I look at these firmware updates with a feeling of trepidation and anticipation. There's usually at least one thing that I would see as an improvement or additional feature and the rest probably don't do anything positive in my usage case.
Twice now they have broken a feature that is important to me which is somewhat annoying, requiring me to go through the ticketing process after checking everything at my end. I recently received a Firmware update which wasn't documented at all on this forum which killed my Plex connection stone dead. Plex connected on my TV, phone, tablet etc but the Home App wouldn't see the server and connect.
A couple of tickets and 2 weeks later, I asked Wiim just to roll back my firmware back to the version that I knew worked which they did.
Yep, it was back working a treat straight away.
The moral of this rather convoluted tale is "don't be in a rush for these updates, they may bring you untold riches or as in my case, grief. 😂😂

Just got this update.

Unfortunately I can see that the HDMI CEC issue many of us have, is still not fixed.

The settings in the WiiM Home App for HDMI have changed (reversed option) but the WiiM Ultra still highjackes the TV sound, even in standby mode.

The HDMI auto-sensing toggle also don't work, as the WiiM Ultra always changes to TV input, independent of the auto-sensing settings, when the TV is turned on.

Sounds like HDMI CEC will override anything, which seems logical to me. If you don't need the Ultra to change to TV input, then adjust/disable the CEC settings on the TV itself? Important to remember that HDMI CEC (device control) and HDMI ARC (digital audio) are two separate protocols.

It's been a while since I've tested this, but I believe the auto-sensing of the (digital) inputs is based on receiving an actual audio stream (through ARC)

The way WiiM has currently implemented the CEC discovery makes it impossible to overwrite on some TV models (e.g. Sony). Only workaround is to disconnect the HDMI cable unless I actually want the TV sound from the WiiM Ultra.

There have been beta test firmware where this was correctly implemented, so that the option "Use HDMI Audio Only in HDMI Mode" actually did what it say. This has just not been included in the main firmware, although the first test was almost a year ago. At the moment this option and the HDMI auto-sensing option does nothing in my setup.

I see!

Sounds like the option to ignore specific CEC commands on the WiiM unit itself would solve a lot of issues for specific setups.

It's actually very simple :p

With the option "Use HDMI Audio Only in HDMI Mode" disabled (the default) the CEC discovery shall be enabled all time. This will cause the WiiM input to change to TV input when ever the HDMI is active (TV turned on) and also allow HDMI auto-sensing to work.

With the option "Use HDMI Audio Only in HDMI Mode" enabled, the CEC discovery shall only be active when the WiiM Ultra input is (manually) set to TV (HDMI). In this way the TV will only change to external speakers when required and else stay on internal speakers.

This was, more or less, how it worked when I got the WiiM Ultra in August 2024. Later on this was broken by an firmware update.

Software regression testing is very important.

My Ultra has now received this update, without any notification of an update being available, or any user intervention from myself, and I have been checking many times each day since it was announced here. 🤔
