WiiM Vibelink Amp

Meh, I'm not a fan of the IOM Ultra either, which has the glossy black panel going all around, from the front to the back. Makes no sense because it doesn't have a screen :)

I like the plain look of the Vibelink although I would've preferred no volume knob at all. If paired with any of the WiiM devices, I suppose the volume would be controlled by the source in most cases. That would make the Vibelink's volume control redundant.
Glossy?
I have IOM Ultra.
Probably one of the first made in Space grey and it's matte-black.
About pop while turning on that @EddNog mentioned. I don't hear any noises. So IT can be the characteristics of the whole setup, or the specific unit (i have plain version only with RCA, no XLR)

Ok nice! To me it first looked like black plexiglass or something. Still, I would've preferred a uniform silver or gray color instead of the black surrounding.

the appearance is one thing... but the sound side... what's it like (a more ambitious solution than tpa 3255 approach "in the paper" ) ?
;-)

So it’s a 3 input 100 W/ch «stupid» integrated amplifier.
Now what if the analog input has noise and distortion at -110 dB instead of the Ultra’s -85 dB? And the power amp can follow?

We're still stuck with it being very difficult to use with the extra inputs if you're using a subwoofer with the Ultra.

Ah, I missed that, or at least the implication.

Could a WiiM Home App-esque set up work just from Bluetooth?
I think that would be unusual tbh. I’d imagine, perhaps volume aside, that once you have this connected and setup you wouldn’t be changing anything (unless you have multiple inout devices) so there’d be litte need for an app and the remote might gather dust or just be used to turn it on and off.

Will the 2nd gen remote be bundled with Vibelink? I thought it would be included with the new lot of WiiM streamers (or new product).

I’d imagine so for the Vibelink at that price ;) However, it appears to lack the mic button that’s on current remotes so I don’t see it replacing the version shipped with current models.

So we have an amp with analogue and digital inputs, but the only controls are for volume and selecting input.

Presumably the Ultra is connected from analogue outs, so the amp section will have to measure very well, and have no analogue-to-ADC-to-DAC-to-speaker outs. Presumably offering the option of setting to full volume and use the ultra for volume, or set the Ultra to full volume and use the amp to control that, though the latter doesn't work with a sub set up connected to the Ultra.

There appears to be one button on the side, but I am not sure if this is the mic button 🤔.

Nice, totally what we expected!

Haven't seen this kind of speaker terminals before, but I like it! Seems like banana plugs would fit straight into the amp, with the additional plug needed to use bare speakerwires/spade plugs. Unfortunately no volume control bypass switch, it seems.

Can't wait to hear what it's based on :)

So SPDIF input to DAC that is hopefully next level over Ultra. And analog input that is hopefully not digitized.

I hope for volume control on the analog side that allow for bit perfect from other WiiMs.
