Hi @dotborg A new firmware has just been announced to fix this issue for the Ultra and Amp Ultra
You could try a power cycle, remove the power source from your wiim device for a couple of minutes and then plug back in again.

This was supposed to be fixed last time. I wonder why a new fix is needed.

Yes. It has never worked correctly. The fix is however easy, so I wonder why.

I suppose the original fix still required the WiiM Home App to connect to the WiiM device once in a while. And believe it or not, some people literally never use it. Auto-sensing, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect are all they ever need.
Probably there have been other issues as well. I'm not stating that everybody complaining about DST related problems never connects to their devices using the WHA.

Any way, I don't think the WHA is needed, except for the initial setup that includes setting the time zone. The WiiM device is using one of the available time services for keeping the time.
So saving and comparing alarms in local time will work.

How can changes be detected by the device alone? I don't think this should be attempted by IP based geo location.
While UTC remains unchanged the local times actually does and the WiiM device must pick up that change. I still assume that WiiM are (or have been) using the smartphone WHA to check and update at least the time zone and DST law settings.

If you only set an alarm once, yes.
That is the basis local time zone set by the WHA. That is all you need to get the correct local time from a time service. Also in the case where DST is changing.
Even though the time zone name is changing when writing it out, eg. on your PC, the basis zone name is always the same.
E.g. the basis time zone name for London, UK, is always "Europe/London". So using that when requesting local time will give you the actual time independent of summer (BST) or winter time (GMT).

... because now I understand what you mean. Yes, requesting the local time from a time server with the time zone name should always return the actual local time. It remains a question of how often these requests need to be made (at least once per day).
The lesser issue is how often the time zone name must be refreshed. Most devices will probably stay in one time zone for as long as they last.

Yes. Usually an update is only needed when the WiiM device is initialized. The time zone is however updated to match your phone each time you connect the WHA and the new time information is fetched by the device.
An time zone update is however not necessary to get correct DST update. My Ultra updated the clock just fine without any WHA connection.
Yes, as long as the time zone name is correct there's no need for an update. As long as the time requests from the device itself are sufficiently frequent there shouldn't be an issue, if the implementation is correct. I agree on that.
