First, I'm very grateful for your recommendations.

Since many speakers have already been tested with the Wiim Amp Ultra from md-sound.de, I am convinced that my new Wiim Amp Ultra can produce excellent sound in my 15 m² room using only bookshelf speakers + active subwoofer.

The only speaker on your list I have ever listened to was the Kupid. For the price I found it sensational good! (Wrong colors to make it a gift for a niece but that has nothing to do with sound.)

If these are the only 3 models you're willing to consider it is difficult to give a recommendation based on anything objective.

There seem to be no detailed measurements available for the Dali Kupid, so it is a bit of an unknown.
Elac Debut B6.3 might be promising because the larger speaker in the series (DF63) performs really well (link to review).
The only one of these which was measured in detail by a reliable third party is the Q Acoustics 5020 (link to review), and it is not a neutral speaker at all.

And another important question: what size subwoofer would be suitable for these speakers?(15m2) Which one would be a perfect match? I definitely need your recommendations here too!

I'll reiterate my recommendation for the SVS SB-1000 Classic (link) - it is not too expensive, it is reasonably sized, and performs very good if you don't need very high playback levels.

It is quite OK, especially for the price: see this link.

This one is a little bright out of the box, but takes EQ really well (due to nicely controlled directivity) so this brightness would be easy to fix with some EQ.

Directivity is on the narrow side so I'd expect soundstage would be slightly narrow as well, but with nicely focused phantom images.

On the other hand, Wharfedale Linton Heritage is an example of a neutral wide-directivity speaker. That kind of speaker gives a wider soundstage, but with more diffuse phantom images. I'd say such speakers give a bit more enveloping sound.

Directivity is a matter of personal preference - some people prefer tightly focused imaging (narrower directivity), and some prefer wide soundstage and more envelopment (wider directivity or even omnidirectional speakers).

I have a similar sized room and am using a pair of Q acoustics 3030i speakers and a sub but my amps are different
I have a WiiM ultra connected to a Fosi zp3 preamp which has 2x Za3 power amps it works well using the hpf on the preamp set to 80hz
Got the speakers for £205 a very good deal

I think it's the same for most people. This is why I usually recommend close-to-wall placement. It is the second-best option, albeit a compromise.


There are some on-wall speakers that come close, then you have in-wall/soffit mounted speakers, and cardioud-bass speakers.
But it is not realistic for most standard box speakers, indeed.

However, from the same table you can see that up to about 0.6m from the wall is still acceptable - this fits most typical loudspeakers.

I've got mine down to 25cm now. I'll see how that goes

I'd very strongly suggest trying to listen to any speakers in a store before buying.
Having done that myself, I know that some speakers simply aren't for me regardless of the praise they get in reviews or from owners.

I won't be allowed to put my speakers 1.2m from the back wall. How many speakers can be placed 0.2m from the back wall? That would be a very low cabinet depth even without cabling.

I solved this problem myself by getting longer speaker cables and setting two positions in roomfit. The first is my "casual listening/movies" setting (aka "max WAF setting") with speakers (QA 3030i on stands) positioned next to tv and close to the wall, with seated position on the couch. The second is my "home alone/critical listening" setting with speakers pulled out about 1.5m into the room and with my listening chair placed in front of the lounge. Both settings sounding pretty great.

One possibility? Elac Debut Reference DBR62 Elac - bass reflex port on the front, so you can also place the speaker close to a wall.

Much cheaper now, is it an discontinued model or why?

How are they too big? They are in the corners out of the way. Stands for the Elac speakers could easily take up more space.

Roomfit takes care of the boominess. Even bookshelf speakers will sound boomy close to a wall. If you just want new speakers then that's also fine

How is that possible?

The 8kHz boost is because phone microphones are generally unreliable particularly at high frequencies. A USB mic like the imm6c or UMIK-1 is preferred.

I'm currently using a Denon AVR-X2400H with Teufel Ultima 40Mk3 speakers.

I listen exclusively to music, FLAC files via Tidal.

However, due to issues with Tidal, I've already ordered a Wiim Amp Ultra to replace the Denon. I also want to get better speakers for the Wiim Amp Ultra (because of the booming bass from the Teufel speakers). My budget for a new speaker system is a maximum of €1500.

I have a few questions:

1. Are floorstanding speakers or bookshelf speakers with a subwoofer suitable for a 14 m² room? (My room measures 4 x 3.5 meters, and the listening distance to the speakers is about 3 meters.)

2. If I switch from the Denon AVR to the Wiim Amp Ultra, the sound will be better (at least that's what I've read). Can someone explain exactly why? The Wiim is so small, while the Denon is large and heavy!

3. Can I use floorstanding speakers in a 14 m² room, or do I absolutely need floorstanding speakers with a subwoofer?

4. Which floorstanding speakers do you recommend?

Are there any other options?

5. Due to the limited space and the distance from the wall (I've heard that floorstanding speakers always need about half a meter of space from the wall, otherwise the bass booms), should I buy bookshelf speakers and add a subwoofer? 6. I'm having problems with the bass on my Teufel Ultima 40 speakers (a booming bass, presumably due to insufficient distance from the wall). Can I keep the Ultima 40s? Since they support bi-amping, could I use just the tweeters and midrange drivers and buy a separate active subwoofer and connect it to a Wiim amplifier? Or would the Teufel speakers still only reproduce weak highs and mids? Should I just buy better speakers altogether?

I use the WAU with my Dynaudio Focus 140 bookshelf speakers separated 25 cm from the wall in a 20 m2 room, but with a listening distance of 2.4 meters. I would not use floorstanders in my case, but you always can try EQ to tame bass response and also move the speakers 20-30 cm forward.

Do you favor the SVS SB-1000 over the WiiM Sub Pro for music mainly (and a few movies) ? I know that the SVS would be better in terms of bass capabilities, but the easy integration of the Sub Pro sounds very appealing for those that have never try a sub.

Based on available data I would favor the SVS SB-1000 over the WiiM Sub Pro, yes.

Simply because SVS SB-1000 can play down to 20Hz in-room, which by all accounts WiiM Sub Pro can't reach.
Not all media has content that deep down, but some does (including music) - and it is great being able to hear it when it's there. SB 1000 can probably also play louder than Sub Pro (having a bigger woofer), but we'd need to see CEA 2010 data for the Sub Pro to be sure.

WiiM Sub Pro on the other hand has DSP and wireless connection capabilities which may be important in some use-cases, so I can see how that is appealing as well.
