I recently jumped on the beta band wagon for DLNA Cast and Qobuz Connect.
I have a WiiM Pro Plus FWIW.
I’ve been testing the DLNA cast to my paired Sonos Fives (latest version). It shows both as singular speakers, but I chose one in particular I get stereo playback.
I’ve hooked up my Auidolab 8300CDQ to the WPP via RCA and optical. I’ve got my TT hooked up to the 8300CDQ. Playing CD and vinyl to my Sonos Fives has been fun.
Critiques;
1) need to get paired Sonos devices showing as such
2) the delay options need looking at. 0ms, 1000ms and 2000ms. Not good. A manual setting is needed me thinks. Or the minimum to be 100ms.
3) combine the Qobuz Connect and DLNA cast betas. I have numerous DLNA compliant renders I wish to test.
Makes sense that one is the designated receiver. Can’t see that being possible - Sonos groups are a Sonos construct not exposed externally. That’ll probably also be why your stereo playback happens in one but not the other as Sonos probably designated one as the main receiver for the stream.
Yep, been doing this. At some point they’re surely going to get combined. @WiiM Team any comment on this. You can easily switch between betas now in the WiiM home app

Amazon’s Music (using presumably a version of UPNP or DLNA) shows them as a singular entity. As does Roon(but using Sonos Streaming protocol).
I’d guess when they’re no longer in betaYep, been doing this. At some point they’re surely going to get combined.
@WiiM Team any comment on this.
Whilst WiiM might be making some effort to keep the streams aligned (likely just delaying the start of the stream until all endpoints are ready) synchronisation is not the aim of DLNA Cast, as DLNA has no provision for it.One observation is that if casting to two unlinked devices they are out of synch - not a big issue - perhaps a different delay per device would help?
I use DLNA to my Sonos system using JRiver and cast to one Sonos speaker and then use the Sonos app to group speakers. Sonos keeps them in sync. Since Sonos has their own syncing method, I doubt Wiim will be able to sync them directly. They will drift over time. Since I only change my speaker groupings occasionally it is not a big deal. Speaker grouping is pretty much the only thing I use the Sonos app for.Running dnla beta 4.8.705360 on a Wiim pro.
Feels pretty solid casting to various Sonos devices including: Connect Amp, Play Bar, Sonos 3, Sonos 1, from a variety of sources.

Anyway thanks, it’s great to be able to use Wiim to control all the Sonos devices!
Good point, thanks - now using Sonos for grouping for the synchronisation- casting from Wiim via DLNA works well with this.I use DLNA to my Sonos system using JRiver and cast to one Sonos speaker and then use the Sonos app to group speakers. This beta is for casting from your WiiM Pro to a non-WiiM DLNA renderer e.g. Sonos/HEOS/CA. It sounds like you're just casting to your WiiM using DLNA which has always been possible.Im casting from my windows 10 PC to my wiim Pro & this 4.8.705360 (beta),is quicker & more stable than my wiim's ever been.
Thank you,I realised that while reading some threads. This beta is for casting from your WiiM Pro to a non-WiiM DLNA renderer e.g. Sonos/HEOS/CA. It sounds like you're just casting to your WiiM using DLNA which has always been possible.
What software are you using on Windows?
That's the theory at least, but the current implementation only works reliably with a select few speakers i.e. Sonos.I didn't realise you could cast to another non wiim device that's amazing.
Even though it's just an additional Audio Output, it you have no need for it then it's probably best to leave the beta. Then why is this beta version better than my original firmware, should I opt out then & detele my post.im sorry thanks for the heads up!
Although it’s great you can opt in and then revert back out of the beta through a simple process, if you find you can’t live with it!Will do thanks, happy listening too you![]()
The longest beta ever released. It must be very difficult why up to now still in beta. This beta seems to have gone really quiet again, I wonder if we will ever get a fully working version that works with all third party manufacturers DLNA compatible speakers.![]()
