Ongoing Beta Beta Test: DLNA Cast

You have posted a link to this very thread.
yes..just a reminder... and date
(seems like an important, useful function, regarding all wiim machines (not attached to the management of " screens').. . and not a gimmick...)

Yes, it would be a very useful feature, but even after all this time, and although it has been released for the Ultra, it still doesn't work. :(

I'm thinking about buying a WiiM Pro because this topic caught my attention. I have Denon devices (X3800H, S970H, Home 150) that don't have Google Chromecast that I'd like to use for YouTube and other apps.

I know that WiiM supports Google Chromecast + I see this beta with potential DLNA Cast support. But not having WiiM devices I can't tell if I could stream via Google Chromecast from my Android to WiiM and in WiiM select the DLNA speaker to play it on my Denon speaker. Will this be possible?

or even (i don't think so) select which speaker to stream to with Google Chromecast?

Not sure this is a good answer as I don’t use either YouTube or chromecast but when I browse in my home music share it shows my Denon 250 maybe someone else who uses those things can advise you
I can browse a ssd connected to my WiiM ultra and play files on my 250 and it works well

A couple of caveats - the WiiM Pro beta DLNA casting is coming up for 6 months old, and when I try it with my Ultra it doesn't see my Denon Ceol Piccolo, but does pick up my Linn amp and my other WiiMs. BubbleUPnP on Android and mConnect on ios see all my devices on the other hand.

You could add a WiiM Pro to each of your Denons then group them in the Google Home app and cast to that. Note that WiiM Minis couldn't be used as they don't support Chromecast even in a group where the main WiiM device does,

Mine sees my WiiM Amp, WiiM Pro and Marantz Amp. I can connect to all three but no audio on Marantz, WiiM receive fine.

Edit: The Marantz didn't like the FLAC had to drop it to mp3

@WiiM Team :
ether integrate the beta for the WiiM Pro dated 01/25 into a coming up firmware release (as it works for me and doesn't seem to hurt users not using this feature) or drop it.
I don't want to be teasered any longer with a feature that might never be released.
😤

It certainly doesn’t work for me, and none of the betas have done.

But if it's part of the official firmware you might open tickets regarding your problems.
And as i mentioned if it doesn't break anything else added since 01/25 ...

Is DLNA related to UPnP? I am able to play music to my WiiM Ultra from Audirvana on my laptop via UPnP just fine on production firmware, including high-res.

This DLNA support is the other way around. It lets a Wiim play to a DLNA device, most often a DLNA speaker.

For me, it would mean I could integrate my Sonos speakers into Wiim playback. I have too many Sonos speakers, in particular a Sonos soundbar, to simply replace them. If Wiim cannot support a robust DLNA playback on my Pro, I will probably need to look elsewhere for a solution.

I'm not sure, but this DLNA Casting feature is intended for a WiiM device to be able to cast to other DLNA enabled speakers, such as Sonos, Bose speakers, and more.

My RIVA Festival, and Arena Speakers support DLNA up to 24 bit 192 kHz, but have never worked properly with any of the betas so far.
They also don't work with the released version of DLNA Out on the Ultra.

They do however work properly if I cast from Lyrion Media Server on my Raspberry Pi, and support the full 24 bit 192 kHz as expected.

Ah, okay. Now I get it. Thanks for clarifying.
