Ongoing Beta Beta Test: Qobuz Connect

Thank you for your help, I've just realised that myself and applied.
They have apparently closed the beta program to new participants - esp from the WiiM ecosystem. So, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Qobuz are so crap at communication - I told them to make an announcement about it to stop people wasting their time, but it fell on deaf ears... 😥

Need to take notes from the WiiM community 😎

Really? Not sure 3 months of the first beta with no real information was such a great WiiM experience either.
Edit: (my mistake it works now!!!!) Would also be nice to now if they are working on fixing the multiroom bug when using QC on WiiM

FWIW, yesterday Qobuz apparently sent out a communication to at least some customers -- I'm guessing those who participate in Club -- indicating they're looking for new beta testers. That could be taken to mean they think they and their partners have squashed all the large bugs they know about, and now they want to see if they've missed anything semi-important before roll-out.

I think you've got the Qobuz "mainstream" beta on Android, not the QC beta version. You'll need to contact Qobuz to get added to that specific user list at the Play Store. If you've joined Qobuz Club, one of their employees on the QC Beta forum there can probably expedite things. Or send a request via https://try.qobuz.com/qobuz-connect-beta/.

Thank you for the link ... I have completed the form

The Qobuz beta asks for the Ultra’s Serial Number. Is it the UUID string under Device Info?

I'll leave it to others to confirm but I don't think the UUID is what they are asking for.
i have the Pro Plus and on the bottom of the streamer the serial number can be found

You may be right, but if that number is not in the device’s ROM how does the handshake work?

They definitely want to know the device's MAC address. I don't recall if they asked for that separately. I could see asking for the serial number in case WiiM made some silent hardware changes that could affect QC functionality (which WiiM does from time to time, I suspect).

Waiting for the iOS app. In the meantime running the MacOS app - flawless. Tried several tracks from CD to 192kHZ, all playing fine. Shutting down the desktop app, Ultra keeps playing, so they did indeed create a complete hand-off; re-starting the app picks up where the playlist is playing. Well done!

Not related... but found on today’s new music release a data rate mislabeling- Claudio Scimone - Italian Wonders states it is a 192/24 recording. It plays at CD quality, both via QConnect or in WiiM’s native app.

I don't know whether Qobuz controls that; it may be in the metadata which is part and parcel of the audio object they receive from the publisher, and may not be entitled to change it per the license. It wouldn't be the first or only time a label has engaged in shenanigans by simply upsampling 16/44 content, and does not at all change the original resolution of the recording.

after receiving the 'you've been accepted ' email, the form you need to submit asks for both the mac addy as well as the serial number.
i also went like..mmmh serial number? it doesn't show in device info in WHA so flipped the Pro Plus over and took a pic and submitted the serial

I submitted the serial number on the sticker and was accepted so it should be fine. Maybe they need it to confirm the product type as the welcome email i received mentioned wiim pro plus
