After having tried to help several members with bass response optimization, I have seen repeatedly that some people have significant issue with asymmetric bass responses between channels, many times due to physical placement constraints in their environment (e.g. have a look at this recent thread).
In these cases usually it is still possible to get a smooth response with mono bass (i.e. where both speakers play the same exact content, which is anyway common in commercial recordings), but audible issues may come up when listening to recordings where bass is true stereo and/or hard-panned.
@WiiM Team So to help in these kinds of cases I propose to introduce a new "Downmix bass to mono" feature.
The feature should have controls to enable/disable it, and to set the frequency below which the response is summed to mono (response above this frequency should remain stereo).
The feature should automatically compensate for the level difference when playing a single channel on two vs one speakers, to preserve the natural frequency balance.
Mono bass behavior (when enabled) should apply to any playback from the device, including RoomFit test tones.
E.g. if response below 100Hz was set to mono, "Individual Channel RoomFit" would play the sweep from both channels up to 100Hz, and then continue playing only on the current channel above 100Hz.
