Pricing & Availability

WiiM Sound launches in Q3 2025 on Amazon and select retailers. Stay tuned for pricing details, we'll announce them when the product becomes available. Full details at www.wiimhome.com.

If the price was going to be say ÂŁ300, what extra features do folk think the WiiM Sound might have to justify a price premium over the Audio Pro at ÂŁ220? (leaving aside the issue of the WiiM edition of Audio Pro not available outside US)
Superior software to name one

Just a brief glance doesn't the Wiim sound offer more in power a screen (which I know some don't think is useful) so charging ÂŁ300 does not seem weird in my mind. I mean we all hope it's going to be cheaper. But it seems Wiim has thrown there all into this.

I would likely be using two of these as rear speaker in a 5.1 setup.
But I am also considering how good it would work for my parents, who are rather old at this point. If the shortcut buttons on the remote works like they do on the amps/streamers (why wouldn't it) then this would be perfect for them.

Happy waiting a bit longer but could do with knowing the rrp so hopefully that is available soon

Airplay still MIA đź‘€
If you have another WiiM device that has AirPlay you can group the two together and use AirPlay on the device that doesn’t have it. I do this now with the WiiM ultra so hopefully it can be done with the Voice.

I plan to use them as surround speakers. If the price for a pair is more than 400 euros, I will not buy.
I doubt very much that a pair will come in around that price. One can hope but in the current economic climate (I’ve put that as euphemistically as I can ;) ), I’d guess it’ll be nearer 600€ for a pair

You may be right. In this case, as this is for surround only, I'd rather buy WiiM pro and tie it to an El Cheapo amp with old speakers.

That’s what I’ve done in effect with a pair of Amazon Echo Plus speakers and WiiM Pro. I already had one and picked a refurbished unit off eBay iirc.

and how do you pair the Wiim pro with the echo ( I have a pair of Google first-gen pucks somewhere) ? Bluetooth ?

The echo plus is one of a handful of echo models which have an aux in port, so I simply cabled them from the WiiM Pro’s analogue L/R outputs.

Okay. So if I want to avoid bluetooth lag with the Google nest, I might as well buy a pair of entry level PC speakers !
Best to get an active pair. Whatever WiiM streamer you use will essentially act as the digital preamp. That how I have my Vanatoos set up with a Pro (and using the WiiM Sub -- associated with the Pro -- connected via the speakers' sub output jack).

Just saw it listed on this Austrian Shop for 349 Euros: https://www.hificonsult.at/Lautspre.../W-i-i-M/WiiM-Sound-Smart-Speaker::10688.html

I'm still on the fence if I should get one for my kitchen or get another speaker and a Wiim Mini. In the living room I have a Wiim Amp Pro as my main set-up. What are the advantages and disadvantages of these two options? I'm a bit lost.
Unless that shop is an authorized WiiM reseller, that price could be a mark-up. I'd wait for the Amazon listing to be sure, since AFAIK WiiM has not announced pricing.

The main advantages of the Sound will be that it will support all the streaming services and functions that the Amp Pro does. The Mini is pretty hampered by its processor and memory, and will be less flexible and thereby more frustrating. Perhaps you'll want the LCD display to see what's playing, enable some controls without requiring your phone, etc. And fewer wires required with a WiiM device and speaker setup.

My advice would be to wait for some reviews discussing how it works and sounds, if you can't audition one yourself at a friend's house. That should be quite soon, even if EU availability will occur after, say, they're released in the US or Asia first.

You might want to wait and see what Audio Pro announces. They have a large lineup coming and may be better priced in Europe than the Sound. The unknown is exactly how compatible they are with Wiim products given their confusing announcements to date.

EDIT: It looks like the W line is now on their website with prices. It is just not clear how much of the Wiim software is included.

That's a good idea. And I was similarly puzzled about what exactly they were going to deliver. Especially when I see something like this:

The website has had prices since this was first raised over a week ago as far as I recall, and it looks like they’re not yet on sale/available.

Their new Audio Pro W app is now available for me in the uk, and while it can see all my WiiM devices, it can’t connect to them. I even went thru factory resetting my Wiim Edition A10 to no avail. Doesn’t augur well for interworking, but then again, their old audio pro legacy app does work fine so maybe it’s just a buggy early app version. As an aside, their old audio pro app displays my LMS artwork, while my WiiM app doesn’t 🤣

The app does look very like the WiiM Home app with even the help pages linking to the WiiM support site. Here’s the App Store screenshot to give you an indication of what features the W-gen might support

As I think I said over on the WiiM Edition Audio Pro thread last week, I guess WiiM will have licensed a modified WiiM app and firmware to audio pro but will hold back some of their USPs for their own kit - for example I don’t see Roomfit in the new Audio Pro app and I’m sure there will be other firmware differences. Plus the audio pro devices have airplay, but don’t have Alexa support. Roon readiness may be another differentiator

My understanding from their original web page was that the new app does not work with the old speakers. You need a W or a Mk II speaker for the new app to work. I do not seem to find that page anymore but I might have missed it. Most of the app stuff has disappeard. Could that be why it does not seem to work for you? You might need 2 W or Mk II speakers to test.
