We're hard at working making and shipping the first couple batches right now! Should be available soon, likely at the end of this month depending on logistics.
Am I right in thinking that it will be USA first and we will have to wait a couple of weeks for the UK?

That’s tended to be what happens with the rollout of a new WiiM device. On the plus side, it’ll make a nice Xmas present ;)

Thanks. I’ll be waiting patiently. I know the tariff situation is probably wreaking havoc on your pricing plans. Any estimated list pricing for US customers?

Well, I had a solid answer last week, but now I'm going to stick with "We'll share as soon as all the details are sorted out!" :)

Is there a threaded mount on the bottom for fixing to a bracket?

Having it be speaker cloth only, and not used replaceable, limits it from being used in a kitchen environment unless you've got a corner where it will be safe from all water / splashes / worktop cleaning products etc

Any thoughts on if there is likely to be a battery powered WiiM speaker at some point that could be used in a garden?

Really want to move away from our Sonos Move

Yes, as per post #46 in this thread.

This has been mentioned / requested a few times.
i.e. I believe Wiim are aware there's interest in a portable speaker.
We'll have to wait and see.

WiiM has apparently made a reputation as a wish-fulfiller 😂. Well done, but let all the niche nonsense bounce off. By the way, we have lots of sensible stuff in the kitchens.

No smart speaker should be getting wet or steamed up. They are not designed for that it isn't just a WiiM thing. I don't put my small echo speaker in the kitchen especially if I am steaming food. Just like I wouldn't put them in the bathroom when I have a bath or hot shower.

I have Echo Dots in both my small kitchen and bathroom with no ill effects for quite a few years now. In the kitchen one sits on top of the microwave next to the stove, while in the bathroom it's on a shelf a few metres from the showerhead.

It's really not a "niche nonsense" product category, the portable speaker market was worth 12.3b dollars in 2023 and forecast to hit 30bn dollars by 2030. Having a multiroom compatible speaker that is ip rated and can connect via WiFi instead of just being Bluetooth is an excellent product which is why sonos has launched multiple models & form factors in that category, and they work very well, fully water proof, easy to clean and good battery life.

Ultimate ears boom range has a range of IP rated speakers, Audio pro has an IP rated splash proof battery speaker in its new lineup - the old lineup I believe their portable wasn't compatible with multi room, but the new one is... plus JBL, Anker etc so these aren't niche cases - most people buying speaker systems have bathrooms, kitchens and gardens and like to use speakers in them. Just because you don't use them that way doesn't mean it's not a popular use for them.

The Sonos having a hard grill means it is easily cleaned if something does happen to it, and you don't have to worry about it should it rain, and indoors it's just another zone. Our Sonos roams and moves are the only remaining Sonos devices we have because there isn't really a relevant WiiM product category to replace them, audio pro W range was promising but seems they are not likely to interoperate with WiiM like their old range did - but the design is not a million miles away from the WiiM sound so it wouldn't be too hard to tweak it.

Yes but they are not officially waterproof, splash proof etc. And people have mentioned that they have ruined their speaker because they put in place of moisture. Check the comment sections on it.

I never wrote that such portable speakers are "niche", but a few of the countless wishes are. As you showed, there are lots of alternatives on the market. Why WiiM too?

I'm aware of that but I'm just saying mine have been fine. Maybe I don't shower often nor long enough, or my ventilation is better ;)
Plus in the case of Echo Dots they're cheap enough not to worry about for me.

When my other half goes in the shower I take my Squeezebox Radio out of the bathroom. When I have a shower I don't leave the water on continuously so much less humidity 😂

Why wouldn't you want your multi room audio system to all be on the same network? Why maintain two systems?

As I wrote, quite sure my opinion is tailor made for my use cases, sorry for that. The bathrooms and kitchens have waterproof DAB radios. The other rooms have each one remote or device for the stereo and one for the TVs. Not too complicated, therefore I think I have used narrow-minded glasses. 😉
