My Ultra tests

Morillon is a euro duck name -- not used elsewhere, so less obvious to us non-residents. I might have to turn in my UK passport :ROFLMAO:
Well, at least it’s better than the alternative meaning of “canard” which is an unfounded rumour or story 🤣

Of course, any addition to the pool of knowledge and experience is always welcome.

If only canard would make just that tiny bit more effort to make his posts comprehensible, I’m sure many forum members would find that to be exceptionally welcome.
I'm all for spreading knowledge and useful info - that's what we're here for, but me too, I'm having trouble understanding most of the things he says... Not sure which translation software he uses but it's definitely not Google 😅😅

We’ve been here before and it is what it is. As Dionne Warwick sang, just scroll on by. Or something like that 😂

The Saab Viggen and the canard-less Draken were two of my favourite Airfix kits when I was a very young lad, many moons ago now…

Edit: saw the real thing in the museum of science in Malmö :)

forget me , really...and reread the thread by refocusing on what onlyoneme offers you observes on its ultra...a large part of what I said was just that....

I’m sure you’re thinking of Isaac Hayes’ version. ;)

But whilst I apply that MO for people just posting stuff that doesn’t interest me, I’m charitable enough to say this may well not be the case here. (y)

A new content added.
thanks so much for doing this.

I’m a beginner and am not super great at reading all of these graphs yet. The coaxial output looks to not be great for the ultra. Is that right?

Any idea how that would compare to the ultra usb out or toslink out? Obviously would take more tests but was wondering if there is a general consensus.

The most easiest answer is for toslink - there would no such noise at all because these graphs are for an electric noise.
The coaxial output is polluted by low level noise spikes coming from the PSU and not filtered out, but the overall level is low, you can see the value in the top right corner.

Each and one of this connection has its pros and cons. Optical is immune to noise but susceptible to jitter. Coax the noise can be problem and can be audible. USB depending it’s clock and it has set of issue.

@onlyoneme: I wonder if the digital ports noise improves further when the analog (line and phono) inputs are shorted with short circuit plugs.

At which db that noise and distortion would not be audible in human ear?
This is not direct audible noise. It’s noise passed onto an external DAC on the audio bitstream. And that noise affects the digital to analog conversion. On my Unison USB DACs I readily noticed a significant improvement over toslink or coax.
