Updated Products Roadmap

"Investigation" on a product roadmap is usually at the very beginning of the implementation path. This does not make me optimistic

Well, if the company sells a device that supports chromecast - Wiim Ultra, and this one works with problems, I think it should be a priority after all. I don't recall for example Plex appearing in the description of the device.

I don't care about roadmap in relation to topics / things that should work from the very beginning

Right, but this is the product roadmap thread and not the new Chromecast issues thread.

So if the Chromecast issues are not fixed, and we all agreed that they should be (you said right), let's have it on the roadmap with top priority = it's a roadmap thread?

(or at least proper / regular communication is needed about that)

(you said right)

Not me, no... however obviously I think we'd all like for all issues to be resolved. I can cast to my Squeezelite endpoints including the WiiM Pro Plus, but I don't use that protocol due to it not handling gapless playback, and max. 96kHz sample rate.

The roadmap is used by WiiM to announce planned for/in development new features, not bug fixes to existing features, so the roadmap thread is not the place to ask about existing features that are currently broken or misbehaving.

(or at least proper / regular communication is needed about that)

To the extent there is anything to say, but it was stated that the ball is now in Google's court, meaning this is not entirely under the specific control of WiiM as to how and when it gets resolved. If the giant Alphabet Inc. doesn't exactly jump to quickly fix or explain what they just broke, there is little that WiiM (or anyone) can do about it.

The Ultra did get another firmware update the morning, maybe once your unit has received that update and the Google Home app is also updated, these issues will vanish.

Initial feeling is of a slowing down tbh, and six weeks till the release of Persistent Groups seems a long time away when the beta is actually pretty good imho. Maybe they are devoting resources to the unannounced “new products” mentioned a few weeks back 🤷‍♂️

There were many features that was slated to be released on 9/30 based on previous roadmap but none was released.

What was this new unannounced product? The devices was announced back then was ultra and amp pro. I’m not aware of anything beyond this point of new product.

I see that DLNA Cast has moved to 20th November, which should allow sufficient time for at least three more beta versions to hopefully get it working, even if they don't offer lossless audio as suggested.

If they meet that, it’ll have been a full five months since the first beta which seems a long time given the desire to position it as an alternative to the removal of the feature that dare not speak its name…

This is probably the main feature that interests me, as I am regularly casting to multiple devices throughout the house, and as I have said before I would be happy enough if it could be made to work as well as that other casting method that we don't talk about anymore. ;)

Lossless audio would be nice, but not really necessary for my usage.

They could always force a flawed update on everyone. And then take six months to restore basic features.

At Ultra, it is scheduled for Oc 30. 🙂
