WiiM Amp Ultra Users Experience

Do we know where the TMP102 is situated? Presumably close to the amplifier chips. I normally find the CPU temp is lower than the TMP102 temp on the Amp.
I don’t know where it’s located, but both temperature readings are usually fairly similar when the device has been on for a few hours.

I think the only time I have seen the TMP102 temp lower than the CPU temp is when the Amp is first powered on or in standby. I assumed the amplifier chips produced most of the temperature rise and the CPU temp rose with the internal temperature.

Of course now that I've been monitoring, I haven't seen it too unreasonably warm after a couple hours of usage: "temperature_power_control": "1000", "temperature_cpu": "49", "temperature_tmp102": "52". Ambient temperature at 25C. I'll continue to monitor.

On a side note, what does temperature_power_control reference? I noticed it's always at 1000 but I'm not even sure of what it is measuring/configuring or the units.

Just got my Ultra Amp.
Mainly used as audio from bedroom TV via HDMI ARC but also playing local files on USB drive.
Why does this run so warm in standby ?

Things that need to change !
1. Make the screen go even dimmer. I have on 1 for the brightness setting and in standby the screen is too bright. I'm using in clock mode to replace the LED clock I had next to it in the bedroom.
2. Add USB input and ability to browse files on main screen. This is currently only an option thru the app.
3. Unit should shut off or go to standby when TV power is off and not wait for the screen timeout. HDMI CEC off should be just that ! Also takes a while before audio comes on after TV powers up !
4. Some sort of ECO mode so the damn thing is not burning up power in standby.
5. Takes forever to scan the local music library. I have about 6000 songs spread amongst CD and Hires quality album directories & files. My Eversolo streamer in my main Hifi system takes 1/10th the time for the exact same files.
6. The connected USB drive is still powered when in standby.Again it s/b off.

At this price point, Wiim needs to step it up a bit from the cheapo, little streaming boxes.
Hopefully they will !!!

Welcome to the forum, hopefully your first post rant will not be a sign of things to come.

This sort of behaviour does not go down well here.

Do you use Wifi? It needs quite a bit of electronics to be ready for input.
1. I agree that brightness 1 could be darker.
2. I don't use USB so I cannot comment.
3. When I power off my Philips TV the Amp Ultra goes straight to standby and screen off. Settings? TV model? Its HDMI ARC by the way Not HDMI CEC.

5. I don't use USB so I cannot comment. I use LMS running on a home server and Squeezelite and I very much recommend that solution to anybody all the time...
6. Maybe.

On your last unnumbered point I disagree.
Your first post comes across as somewhat strident. That really is not necessary.
