WiiM Amp

Seems to be PCB 4 IMO.
What does it mean? Here is a photo of the new product (the seller ordered in China). Maybe you can get additional information about them? Thank you all for your help, this is the first time I have encountered such problems before buying electronics.

I thought someone pointed out the new version's AUX output are errr... left/right are swapped?

Based on your photos it could be PCB 5 except one detail - it lacks IEC class II insulation protection mark which I can see on my PCB 5 unit. That's why I suspect it's a bit older PCB 4 revision.

If possible, I’d only buy from Amazon or an official WiiM distributor. Phrases like “the seller ordered in China” would frankly worry me as you couldn’t be assured of a replacement unit should it turn out to be faulty in any way.

But can you assume that there is an issue with an older version?
If it works fine ..its alright isn't it?

Don't want to spoil anybody's business, but toward the end of March 2023 I wouldn't buy a WiiM Amp where the serial number starts with P1TF23.

Buy either from a very trustworthy local dealer or from a high volume online reseller. The difference in price cannot be that big.

Good afternoon, what's wrong with this episode? The seller says that this is the second version, everything works fine (the product was checked before sale).

Well, you have been asking how to identify the revision of the WiiM Amp prior to buying it. The answer is: There is no 100% safe way to know without either connecting it to the network and accessing the HTTP API or opening the actual case.

If the seller didn't do one thing or the other he cannot know the "PCB_version" for sure, no matter what he says. So far, we know of PCB_version 2, 4 and 5. So, what does "this is the second version" really mean?

There are certain hints toward the newer versus the older versions:
  • Red RCA socket must be on the left side (watched from behind) ✅
  • The box should have the black and white icons ✅
  • There should be the IEC class II mark on the bottom of the unit ❌
    class2.jpg
  • Current production samples made in 2024 have a serial number starting with P1TF24 ❌
It has been guessed that this unit most probably was a PCB_version 4. It might work just fine, but if it is, it's simply not the latest revision. Why would you want to buy this particular unit from this particular seller, if not because of a discounted price?

Thank you for explaining everything in detail. I live in Belarus and in my country there is only one offer for this amplifier for $300. The seller bought it for his country house, but he had a very weak Internet signal and the amplifier did not work well (So he decided to sell it. He bought it in China as version 2 and negotiated it with the Chinese store.

In a German hifi magazine the Amp was reviewed and they tried to find three speakers and three turntables, each with internal pre, as appropriate for the Amp. Might be interesting for some. This post is info only, no judgement from me personally! No experience with the Amp here.

@Fender
C'mon, you could have translated it for us - remember, posts in English please!
It was thought as an idea only, better way in my eyes is to get a name and a look and check yourself ;-)
The text is flower-ish as usual. Indeed they do have a good reputation, but of course it is still softporn for the hifi users.
I bet this will soon pop up on their international website, so one can find it. Sooner or later. If wanted.
Quintessence from this lines: I am too lazy ;-)

@Mr Ee Finally I let the robot do its job. Hope it helps ;-)

TRIANGLE
BOREA BRO3
Borea BR03 is the larger of two compact models of the French manufacturer's series. For just 449 euros the pair, there are high-quality speakers with a well thought-out design and in four stylish colour variants. The forward-facing bass reflex openings make the BR03 a little easier to set up, as the distance to the back wall is not quite as decisive here. In terms of sound, they are energetic and precise with a lot of details and a minimally cool, but by no means unpleasant tonality.
For a surcharge of 150 euros, there are directly matching feet.
449 € / pair

KLIPSCH
RP 600M II
The Klipsch RP 600M Il are a real eye-catcher with their large tweeter horn and orange low-midrange driver. Of course, the design has mainly sonic reasons, the horn ensures increased efficiency. Other technical tricks such as a particularly large voice coil allow high dynamics and jumping liveliness in musical reproduction. In addition, there is the comparatively large design, which naturally physically supports the bass. Cork is incorporated into the floor, which should contribute to the protection of furniture as well as acoustic decoupling.
800 € / pair

DALI
OBERON 5
The smallest floorstander from DALI's Oberon series is the sweet spot of the series. She is still compact with a 13-chassis, but in terms of sound she is in no way inferior to her next bigger sister and is extremely complete, lively and spirited.
In view of the price, timbres are breathtaking, the bass is contoured and precise. We also find it particularly likeable that the Oberon 5 are absolutely uncritical in the line-up. The high-quality foiled MDF housing with metal feet, the fabric covering and the red drivers also make a visual impression.
900 € / pair
