Regarding the previous update note: "Roon Ready: Added an option to disable Roon Ready to reduce network load from service discovery and announcements (requires the upcoming firmware update)," does the WiiM Pro Plus have a corresponding firmware update? Also, even if I don't use Roon, can I disable this function to optimize frequent requests?

I’ve only got that option on my WiiM sound so,I’d guess the others will need a firmware update at some point. I think the point of the option is to disable it if you don’t have Roon - it wouldn’t make much sense to turn it off if you were a Roon user.

Yes, I'm a non-Roon user, so this seems really useful for reducing frequent network requests. I just don't know when the firmware will be released.

Presumably, you are referring to this,

The option is now available in the latest update for the WiiM Amp, so I would expect other compatible devices will get this feature in a future update.

Audio Controls

1. WiiM Mini: Custom volume step configuration (requires upcoming firmware)
Did someone check this out? Volume control curve was not really optional for those who use it as the only volume control.
@WiiM Team: Why only for WiiM Mini?

This is the curve up to now:

Fair enough, but I’m naturally the type of person who goes thru every option in an app to see what’s there and also reads any manual available. Many seem too lazy(?) to do even the latter…
I'm one of the people who are too lazy to read thru manuals, instructions etc. After many years as an IT technician, reading manuals, software changes, new server software, networking changes etc, etc, I decided when I retired 4 years ago, no more of it.
That's the good thing about the Wiim Forum, if I can't work something out myself, a quick post on here and one of you guys will answer my question faster than I can find the answer by trawling thru loads of instructions.
The depth of knowledge on here is second to non, so thanks all for giving up your time helping me out. 👍

Indeed... especially in the case of the ultra, often mentioned in the context of a"" preamp use""... a selection of dedicated curves level output would be a great feature.
Really useful...
Obviously useful...

But as a retired IT techie, I bet you naturally have good troubleshooting skills and have had a go at finding a solution before you post.

Guess my comment comes from the way my brain works - like my mentor Harry from back in the 70s when I started work as a mainframe systems programmer, I can remember reading something somewhere even if I can’t recall the answer but have enough info to direct a search for it. Back in the day, pre-google etc, when you asked Harry a question he couldn’t answer, he could recall the particular manual you’d find the answer in, almost down to the page number and position on the page. But for that, you need to have at least read the manual first…

For non-techies, I like to think the same applies - if there’s an instruction manual, at least browse the contents page to get an idea what your purchase can do ;)

Or maybe I’m just getting grumpier as I get older 😜😂

I'm the type who always reads the manual before buying anything. 🙂

I read several manuals for comparison and decide which product best meets my needs. Once I've placed the order, I read the manual beforehand to prepare. This is the most enjoyable part.😊

By the time the eagerly awaited it arrives, I'm usually quite familiar with most of the operations, so I rarely end up reading the manual.😄

Always knew you were a kindred spirit ;)

Plex search is much better than it used to be. Yet for some reason it only finds a selection of albums with the search term in the title. However finding artists seems to work now and from what I can tell so far, all albums by an artist are listed now instead of the random selection I used to get. We‘re finally getting somewhere.

The older you become the more grumpier you are allowed to be. Some days I make Victor Meldrew look like an amateur. 😂
