WiiM Home App v3.5.1 Update – Feb 12, 2026

Please review the app update release notes below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us.

App Version:
3.5.1

Beta Features

1. [Beta] Sound Mode: Adds sound mode selection for Sub Pro (Movie / Music) in the app (requires the upcoming beta Sub Pro update).
2. [Beta] Standby Source Mode: Allows selecting the input used in standby for immediate input playback (requires the upcoming beta firmware).
3. [Beta] Surround Setup: Simplifies surround setup (requires the upcoming beta firmware).

Note: The WiiM Ultra beta firmware (v5.2.807549) and Sub Pro beta firmware (v5.2.806729) are now available.

Yeah, we got a bit delayed due to some holidays. And since this release was mostly beta features I believe the team wanted to make sure they were in a good state before drawing attention.
And the opposite for the Ultra release?

Not a big issue, just creating some doubts about how testing and releases are handled.

Not sure what's changed, but it seems like the issue with volume control on Android is fixed as well?

With the WiiM app running in the background (and a "now playing" notification being shown), I can now adjust the volume of media playing in other apps without the WiiM device changing in volume as well!

Still not working for me. If phone volume is 0 when WHA is set in the background, I cannot lower the volume or mute it. Only turn it up.

I just tried again:
- open Spotify & start playback on WiiM Ultra
- open WiiM Home: WiiM volume reacts to buttons on side of the phone
- open YouTube or Instagram: only the phone speaker volume reacts to buttons on side of the phone. I see a separate volume indicator bar for the casted media. So I can still control my WiiM's volume using the touch screen.

And what happens when the phone volume is zero when you start the WiiM Home App? Can you still control the WiiM when you put the WiiM Home App back in the background. Can you set WiiM volume to any value between 0 and 100 using the media cast widget?

Sorry, it seemed to work ok now for me because WiiM's media widget was not being shown during Spotify playback. Maybe this is done deliberately because Spotify's own notification is being shown? So at least while using Spotify, the volume control works as expected.

When listening to web radio this morning, WiiM's own media notification is being shown and the problem was there again :')

Not sure I fully understand. If the WiiM Home App is the only media app running and it's in the background, can you still fully control the WiiM device volume via the phone?

I am not able to do that. I can turn it up and down but not the full range (0 to 100). Depending on the initial phone volume.

Yes that's exactly what's happening as well when I was using webradio this morning.

But yesterday using Spotify:
- WiiM Home app media notification was not shown, only Spotify's media notification
- when switching to different apps with media playing, the phone's volume buttons would control the internal phone & media volume
- I got 2 volume level bars on my screen though: one for the phone volume, another for the cast media (Spotify playing on WiiM Ultra)

Yes. When one of the other media controllers (Spotify, Tidal, etc.) takes over the volume control works ok. It's only the WiiM Home App that fails when in the background.

I have the ticket #531682 "lock-screen volume" open for more than 10 months, regarding this issue. The answer from @WiiM Support was:

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Since the WiiM Home app is not a full media player and only displays the playback status of the device, it may not function the same way as other media apps. We will continue to explore whether a better solution is possible.

At this stage, we recommend temporarily disabling the screen lock feature as a workaround.

Yup, got my hopes up too soon... once again it shows that it COULD be done and it's clearly a WH app issue :')
