WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.703434 - Jan 3, 2025

Doesn't everything appear in the house?

I deleted my Ultra from Google home app as a test. Then the gear went missing.

My memory is a bit fuzzy, but if you did not add the WiiM to your house (or room) in the Google home app during setup, it does not belong anywhere and is classified as a local device.

Does that mena a factory reset of the Ultra to re-enable chromecast to get it to appear again with the gear icon?

Depends... been fighting with Google home all day trying to get it to not show my ultra as offline (even though it works fine in every way, including chromecasting to it). Removed it from my home, and now it can't be moved back into my Home at all to allow allow it to be added to a room.
Not tried a full reset yet.

Edit: before removing from Home, whenever I had the ultra in a room it showed us offline. When removed from a room and therefore showing as a local device it would show as online again.

My Amp only shows as "Offline" when it is turned off at the mains switch, same for my Chromecast.

First, I would have needed to add the device to the room.
The instructions I gave (apart from saying you should be on the "devices" page in the Google Home app first) worj for my ipad and android phone
Thanks. I removed it from the room and still see the device info

Guys, I really understand what you are saying, but it's not there.

I will uninstall the app, change language to EN, add device again... maybe it will show up

There has been recent discussion about new devices not being able to be added to a room, and as a result there is no cog settings icon.

Devices that are not in the room will not show any
Hi @Wiimer
In GH I have two devices. W Pro and Ultra. The Pro is in a room called ‘Studio’ and has the gear icon.
The Ultra is seen as a local device. It is not assigned to a room and has no gear icon.
I cannot find a way to add it to ‘Studio’. Can you tell me how to do this?
Damn GH 😂

@Maurizio

Tap the Ultra icon on the device screen and you should see "Add to Room" next to "Cast Audio".

If you do not see it, follow the instructions in #197 to get to the room device selection screen 🙂.

Hi @Wiimer
Thx for your help.
A very strange thing:unsure:. I tried from an IPAD and the writing add to a room was not there. I then tried with an android tablet and the writing was there.
I then added Ultra from android. Done this, of course, it was also in IOS
Google be damned. The good thing is that I don't use CC 😂😂;)

And another point:

As we know, WiiM-linked devices do not boradcast Chromecasted streams. But… WiiM devices grouped by the Google Home app can play (together) streams Chromecasted to them.
