I've had the rotating arrows with the subtext "Starting Firmware Update" for about an hour now. What should I do?

I decided to reboot. Firmware still at 5.2.638250
Is the update icon (arrow pointing up) displayed on the device card in the WiiM app?

Or, please tap "Check for Updates" in Device Info.

I am on the Chromecast 1.56xxx FW, now updated to 5.2.639152 and this, too, seems to be a series of bug fixes. Nothing that affects me, so stuff others use. WiiM needs to deliver on a capable Presets editing function, allowing Presets re-ordering at a minimum.

No problems at all with WiiM devices (2 x Ultra, 2 x Mini, 1 x Pro) and totally happy (but an export/import function for the settings would reassure me 🙂)

The Ultra Chromecast performance continues to be a sore point. Even running Chromecast 1.56.xxx, it stutters and SQ is subpar. It sounds soft, lacking highs' detail. Easy to demonstrate, for example comparing the sound of the WiiM Home App native BBC Sounds app to the same stream sent via Chromecast from another source (in my case a iOS device). And yes I confirmed that that same iOS device directly connected to the same external DAC sounds fine.

So… @WiiM Team: Chromecast continues to be a problem. I dare say, a critical problem, because Chromecast is a key WiiM streamer feature. Especially now that AirPlay is gone.

Note: The problem was communicated via Feedback - ticket #520791.

Same firmware version 5.2.639152 for the Ultra with Chromecast 1.56 here now.

I don't have any issues with stuttering though. Mostly just casting Radio Paradise when I'm actively listening and want to rate and dig into the artists.

Things - Chromecast - have improved after a full power off, power on cycle. First time an OTA FW update caused these problems. Hope it remains stable as usual. Passed this to @WiiM Team via feedback.

Fixed the squeezelite volume change issue
What problem was that? It actually created a problem for me. The Volume Control setting of the associated Lyrion player can no longer be set to "Output level fixed at 100%", meaning that volume changes are now happening both within the LMS domain and the WiiM hardware. This is due to Squeezelite now registering with the "hasDigitalOut" parameter set to "0" instead of "1". I have opened a ticket for this issue.

Strange mine works as it should in LMS now. I've set fixed output in wiim home app. But I have noticed fixed output has disappeared in lms player setting.

I don't use wiim home app.

That's the problem. The LMS volume control setting is now always variable, with no way to change it to fixed. This means that player volume changes are now always handled in the LMS software domain in addition to any downstream controls, including the WiiM preamp and any AVR which might be connected to its outputs. Bottom line: no way to maintain a bit perfect signal to or beyond the WiiM.

Don't know anything about that, but I guess could test with two channel DTS encoded PCM file, if my processor shows DTS then that means bit perfect is working?

I remember doing this with rockbox and squeezebox, digital output, DTS format was being received.

As the person who reported the problem, I would also like to test the beta firmware fix. Please advise me how to access the "new conversation" referenced here. Thank you!
