Hi, the USB fix did not resolve my issue. After my Ultra goes to sleep, my DAC continues to show that it's receiving an audio signal and doesn't go into standby unless I unplug the USB cable, after which it shows no signal for a fer minutes after going to sleep. It's worth noting that my DAC has an external source of power, so it relies on lack of audio signal to go to sleep. Please review the WiiM Ultra update release notes below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us. This firmware update is being rolled out in stages, with devices updating sequentially over the next few days.
5.2.705437 (In Progress)
Release date:
1 / 23 / 2025
What's New:
Bug Fixes:
- Smart Preset Enhancement: Added support for the Sub Output option in Smart Presets for greater customization (requires app version 3.1.1+).
- Gapless Playback Enhancement: Fixed an issue that caused skipping when playing tracks shorter than 10 seconds.
- Playback Enhancements: Fixed playback crashes and resolved a 2-second playback loss issue with the APE audio format.
- Resample Algorithm Enhancement: Upgraded the resample algorithm to ensure high sound quality when resampling to 96 kHz or lower.
- Subwoofer & Main Speakers Auto-Timing Alignment: Fixed an issue that prevented auto-timing alignment after disconnecting from USB Out.
- General Fixes: Various performance improvements and bug fixes.
It probably also needs the 5V on the USB port to be removed as well. My Topping E30 also wouldn't enter standby for the same reason.Hi, the USB fix did not resolve my issue. Thanks for the feedback. Topping D-50 III owner here.It probably also needs the 5V on the USB port to be removed as well. My Topping E30 also wouldn't enter standby for the same reason.
Well... I suppose the keyword here is "should" as it doesn't look like it's doind that. Its either still comunicating with the DAC or sending power through the 5v rail. The usb should go back line out once ultra goes on standby. This allow the dac turn off.
I made a quick test, and yes it very much appears so. (excluding the 192kHz output setting, where the issue still presists). I will provide tests in that other thread later this day. Now I need to go doing my actual daywork. Was item #4 in response to this thread?

Just got the update with Sub control in the Preset.
Now we are just needing renaming, picture update and reorder options, plus all the other options that could be useful.

As said, we will need renaming, picture upload (maybe with default list of Icons available) and reordering. This must be available for all Preset, not just the ones configured from empty.
I don't understand why they name it from the network type used? Some times it's even an internal server that happens to use (local) network, not WiFi nor Ethernet. Why not just call network related inputs for "Streaming"?I agree that this would be useful. A custom icon would look a lot nicer.
But purely for functionality, we don't actually need that, nice as it'd be. Want yes, need no. But a list of presets all with the same name is pretty useless, unless the only reason you have different presets is for different inputs.
This is particularly bizarre, as almost all sources (digital especially, streaming, bluetooth, line in, and yes even phono in) should have an audibly flat frequency response. It's speakers and headphones which are going to need different EQs.
Good point. Although it would be interesting to know if this "USB Fix" done twice did indeed fix USB issues for anyone.I suspect they might need a setting to let us chose wether to leave the USB port on or off... I wouldn't be surprised if one way works with some DACs and breaks others and vice-versa. We'll see....
It's supposed to fix the one I reported where the WiiM wakes up immediately after being suspended. I'm away so I can't test right now, hopefully tomorrowGood point. Although it would be interesting to know if this "USB Fix" done twice did indeed fix USB issues for anyone.
I see... for.me, it just never goes to sleep. It's supposed to fix the one I reported where the WiiM wakes up immediately after being suspended. I'm away so I can't test right now, hopefully tomorrow
Hi Steve, TeamRight, having just set up two presets, I feel that custom naming is now far more important than I first thought.
For Preset 1 I have my speaker set up, which is volume 75, input wi-fi, output line out (to my amp), Sub Out is on (to my sub), and EQ is set for my room and speakers.
For Preset 2 I have my Sennheiser HD600 headphones, which is volume 60, input wi-fi, output optical (to my external DAC/Headphone amp), Sub out is off, and EQ for my Sennheisers.
But here's the thing. Presets 1 and 2 are both called Wi-Fi, because that's the input. As it stands, no biggie, as they say.
But I wanted two different presets for my speaker set up. My 12.1s have a dip between 1kHz and 3kHz, which was placed there deliberately by the designer Karl-Heinz Fink. Sometimes I like the speaker 'naked' and sometimes with the dip EQ'd out, so I need two presets which are identical, other than one has the dip EQ'd out and the other doesn't. In addition, I currently have 2 other pairs of headphones, both with quite different sound signatures which I EQ, so I need a separate EQ profile for each.
That'd leave me with 5 presets, but they'd all be called 'Wi-Fi'. Sooner or later I'm going to get mixed up, and need to check I've got the right one, clicking 'Favourites', clicking 'See All, then clicking on the Preset I'm using, to see what the EQ is called, and be sure I'm using the right one.
That completely negates the user-friendly functionality of presets. If I need to go into settings to check what's what, I might just as well stick to my current set up, which up until now has been Ultra for speakers (choose between 2 EQs), and Mini for headphones, and choose between 3 different EQs, depending on which headphone I'm using.
Having 5 presets all called 'Wi-Fi' is pretty useless.
As it is, it looks like Presets are designed to be used solely for different inputs, as that's how the name of the preset is automatically chosen.
@WiiM Team , are you and the boys in the lab aware of this limitation, and are you working on it?
If you can't enable us to type a new Preset name, there is an alternative. Instead of automatically naming the Preset after the input, how about you automatically name it after the name of the EQ. Users can them name the EQ after the input if they want ('Wi-Fi', 'Phono') the output ('Line Out', 'Optical'), or whatever. If they don't EQ anything, they can set up several identical flat EQs with different names.
Just a thought.
The WiiM or the DAC ?I see... for.me, it just never goes to sleep.
