WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.704665 - Jan 15, 2025

Anyone else lose the ability to adjust volume from their iphones after this update? My volume control is locked, WiiM app, Spotify app, Pandora app... totally unable to control the volume from my phone. I have to physically go to the receiver and turn the knob.
Could you please post a screenshot of the "now playing" screen in the WiiM Home app, showing the volume slider?

Seems to me like there's some delay on HDMI audio since the update. It becomes very clear when there's dialog.

I've already toggled the setting "Optical/HDMI audio de-noising", with no difference (it never seemed to make any difference to me)

Well, you can say Not Now for a little while, but it will happen.

That’s true, as WiiM’s FW updates are forced-on, but they shouldn’t be. If one is happy with his device’s performance there’s no need to update. FW updates should be optional. iOS or MacOS updates are optional, WiiM’s should too.

Display not reliable at all. The WiiM Ultra is playing fine but got this display.

Playing from Spotify to a Group.
Hi Hgo58,

We apologize for the inconvenience!

If possible, please send us your feedback through the WiiM Home app. This will help our engineers troubleshoot and address the issue as quickly as possible.

Hi xbmconit,

We’ve identified a bug in both our app and firmware related to locked volume controls for devices in a group. This issue prevents you from adjusting the volume of other devices within the group through the WiiM Home app, Spotify app, or Pandora app. We are aware of the problem and will investigate it promptly to provide a fix.

Thank you for your patience.

Looks like they stopped rolling out v5.2.704665 for now. My Ultra was showing the update yesterday, I did not update yet, today the update does not show anymore

This happens whenever the first device in a Link or Group is set with fixed volume.

Group volume control still works in the WiiM Home App but not from other apps.

Already raised a ticket 3 months ago about this (#514793).

That's right. My living room Ultra received the update yesterday, my hobby room Ultra didn't today.

I’m reposting this for the attention of @WiiM Team and @RyanWithWiim. This is an important issue that should be considered. Forced FW uploads may be OK for beta programs but not for mature products.

I invite all to start a dialogue on this topic.

My POV is that users should decide themselves to update or not. Update if that fixes a bug affecting that user or an update bringing a feature the user wants.

Mine updated by itself when I was in bed
A toggle would be good for auto or manual updates

It's a bit more complicated than that as you'd probably be required to keep the WiiM Home app in "sync" with the correct version as well. Of course it's totally possible to disable updates in the app store/play store.

Yes this auto-update behavior MUST be changed. I absolutely and utterly hate any auto-updates on any devices or SW, when something updates and I suddenly find things are different/not working as previously only to discover sneaky update was pushed to me and broke things. I want to first see a changelog, and then decide myself if I want to update now or hold off until I say so.

Running 5.2.705442. I noticed that switching inputs takes a long time. Tens of seconds. Is this new?

As I said, it doesn't happen to me.

That doesn't mean that ther hasn't been a change that only bites in certain configurations.

I noticed this delay also, but it seems to be normalized after some time and of course after a few power cycles.
If something strange still happens, it is about the USB library access time, a lil step forward at least on my system.
