WiiM Ultra not triggering Smart Strip

Just set mine up today, and after wrestling with the very unintuitive app, have finally gotten it to play nice.

Except for one thing: it replaced a Denon 3805 that I was using as a pre-amp with an external amp, the latter being plugged into a Smart Strip so that it would turn on and off in sync with the Denon.

Plugging the W-Ultra into the same trigger outlet the Denon used, it no longer activates the Smart Strip!

Is there anything I can do, or is this just a feature of a low-voltage/current pre-amp as opposed to a 40lb boat anchor receiver from the early 00s?

Does your smart strip have an adjusting screw to raise/lower the voltage sensitivity?

Oh, I looked at the link, yes it appears to have something: "The unit also features a low profile angled plug as well as an ON-OFF Threshold dial and reset button." Maybe set it to minimum level?

Yes I've already tried that, no luck.

Likely because the WiiM does not draw enough current to trigger the smart switch. You could contact the smart switch manufacturer and ask them if they have a solution for you.

You can check the wall outlet that the smart switch is plugged into to make sure it's wired correctly and providing adequate voltage. You could try moving the smart switch to another wall outlet on another circuit to see if the problem is solved.

If the power amplifier you are using has a 12V trigger input, you could try using the 12V trigger out on the Ultra to turn the power amplifier on and off.

If the power amplifier does not have a 12V trigger input, you could potentially use a 12V triggered power plug.

I'm guessing you don't trigger the external amp directly because it's not an option. I don't have an Ultra so I'll bow out, but trying another switch is of course another idea. I had a similar issue with my pre-amp/power amp triggering, so I tried the cheapest smart switch I found on Amazon ($10 Sunbeam), and it works fine (after setting the threshold low enough).
