I see. Thank you for the advice. So how do you guard against the speaker being overloaded? My thought is that is down to listening volume, obviously, but how do you know how much is too much?
Your ears will start bleeding 🤣. If your speakers have a sensitivity of 87dB (1W/1m) then even a 10W amp will reach 90dB at 1 metre.

Okay. So there's no actual technical answer. Things seemed so much safer and easier in the old days when you matched the amp max to the speaker max, or thereabouts. :)

I think I will stick with current amp until it dies, given the speakers are the most expensive items in my little music setup. Would hate to destroy them.

The fear that historically there has always been with small amps, no protect, is that if pushed to their limits they will clip and typically burn tweeters... but in the end a continuous listening level with a high level permitted by a high wattage exceeding the admissible limits of the speaker will also burn it

(and I'm not talking about the impacts of bad manipulations in terms of volume, bass boost, boum party etc etc "which doesn't only happen to others" ;-) ...
a best off of each could be educational... ;-)
)

Im sure its for marketing reason there is a dac and volume control . I would have liked this power amp to have no dac, no volume control and two fixed gain switches at the back, at 26 dB and 18 dB . A simple voltage divider using soldered resistors is better sounding than any volume pot. That said, maybe the volume pot in vibelink is only a rotary controller, connected to an analog chip volume control ? That would be a better choice than a buffered volume pot control.
I don't understand why the internal DAC function seems to upset some people...will be useful very often, especially for very consumer equipment...
or even more efficient than the analog input here...
and don't be fooled, leaving the manufacturing workshops is only a very small additional cost this dac...
the quality of the analog input, the impact of the choices on the variable volume side, or more simply the type chip of amplification mode, protection output, ( important efforts for good cooling seem ok).. are real issues...
but the addition of a non-gadget function...I don't see.... ""a gift""...(probably very often useful or one day it will be useful to you)

So, in terms of sound quality, (broadly speaking!!😁), how would this little buety compare to,, arcam a5, or marantz stereo 70,,??

Tpa3255 or 3251 sounds better than all of those, if good implemented. Cleaner, clearer , more dynamic and more detail.
Linn products uses this chips in their Selekt range, because it sounds better. Tpa3255 in good implementation sounds slightly better than hypex ncore by the way ( I have both type of poweramps ).

Dont play attention to youtubers or reviewers that dont like the sound of good 3255:s. They dont know what they are talking about.

I bought my first tpa3251 amplifier ( Aiyima a04 ) in late 2020, and I was so convinced ( and chocked ) I sold all my class A/B amplifiers. Later comparisons with expensive class A/B amplifiers are the same story . Below 1000 dollar there is no reason to not go for tpa 3255/3251.

buy and make your own experience, direct comparaisons in the long term.....to your taste and your conditions etc.

Yes, this is the best way to do it. Dont loose money though buying expensive class A/B amps without the option of sending it back.

Ah yes, been there many times,,😁😁👍, a lot of factors to think about for sure,, I can't help thinking,, physically bigger amp = bigger PSU, = better 'overall' sound,,, thanks,,👍👍

(Assuming chocked is shocked).

Very early days, but I'm stunned to say I have to agree.
Pitting the A$600 Vibelink against a A$6,000 Hegel has been shocking.
Yes, I still prefer the Hegel, but cor blimey mate the Vibelink is rather impressive.

I think for me the biggest issue is that I already have an amp. Mine doesn't 'match' the Ultra as such, but how it looks really works for me.

It's better-specced in every way than the Vibe, apart from power, but my amp has more than enough power, so that's actually a non-issue. It's also cheaper.

But if I were buying an Ultra & amp today, and I had a larger room and needed more power, I might be tempted.

Just one more daft thing, which effects me, but I'm sure very few others. My Ultra is on my desktop, underneath a riser on which I place my PC monitor. The Ultra is 7.2cm tall, the Vibe is 6.3cm tall, the gap from my desktop to the underside of the riser is 13cm, so that's a non-starter anyway.
One could sell the amp that you have..

Good afternoon I'm using a hypex ncore nc502mp power amplifier with ultra driving monitor audio silver 100 7g speakers rated at 120 watts even though amp is 350 watts have no problems what so ever and I like music loud and bassy. My system has never sounded so good couldn't be any happier.
