I recently ordered a Yamaha A-S701 from Amazon as an amplifier. I really liked the sound, I listened for a few days. It plays nicely with my Dali Menuet speakers. Unfortunately, they sent me the wrong color and I returned it. I decided to test the Vibelink while returning it. ;) What can I expect from Vibelink vs Yamaha?

I have WiiM Ultra as a source.

What kind of bias are you looking for? 😁 😉

Depends on what Source(s) you connect to the Vibelink, and how you like your deep bass. The Vibelink DAC surely beats the old Burr-Brown in the A-S701, but the latter has discrete Subwoofer support (though with a fixed 90hz crossover) and high-quality 12000pf Block Caps for control of the Woofers.

You really shouldn't compare the power supplies/capacitors etc. between these different amplifier classes...especially since in general it's mainly on the "woofers" that the class D etc. are very efficient.
ps not pf , pico but uf, micro.. ;-)

Since @d00 owns a WiiM Ultra with extremely flexible subwoofer management that's probably the least thing to worry about. :)

Igonring the ground loop issue observed by Amir (AudioScienceReview) at least with his analyser (I'm still not aware of any other technical review that could confirm or refute this) all other measurements turned out exceptionally good for a TPA3255 amp. It's pretty much leading the pack (maybe alongside 3e Audio, which don't offer features like built-in PSU or DAC).

@harkpabst @s3igell I've been testing Vibelink for a few hours. It fits nicely and looks together with Ultra. However, the sound - hmm. Yamaha had something interesting - my Dali Menuet matched the sound with it in such a way that the vocals, for example Adele sounded very natural. Vibelink in the same configuration plays these vocals as if brighter, more sterile, they are not so embedded. Only setting on the WiiM Ultra EQ "Rock" helped a little with this problem. Yamaha played in this style but without EQ on WiiM, only using Loudness on Yamaha.

Difficult choice, but somehow this Yamaha sounded more natural. And I pay a lot of attention to the vocals.

What about bass? Menuet have it quite weak, because it's very small columns. And I have a room only 9m2. I need to conquer him a bit to be OK.

Are you using room correction in WiiM Ultra? If so, had you configured it again with the Vibelink?

Well, I never heard the Menuet but some of their other speakers like e.g. the Opticon 1 MK1 and MK2. People appear to like these speakers for their delicate and warm, yet still detailed sound. If you've been listening to the S701 with loudness enabled all the time this might well be the difference in character you are experiencing now. Finally, loudness is EQ, too.

I need to conquer him a bit to be OK.
My top 2 rules when picking hi-fi equipment:
- Never buy anything you don't really like, hoping to get used to it.
- Never reject a new piece of kit just because it sounds different from what you got used to.

:D
