Ongoing Beta Beta Test: Qobuz Connect

Possibly, I have 2 Marantz amps but only one is HEOS capable so no idea if other models have been enabled.
Yeah, that makes sense. I wonder if BluOS devices will be similarly QC-enabled en masse. So far there haven't been any Bluesound participants posting in the Club forum.

Just an update on an issue I had getting the correct QC beta app on my Android phone.

I have been a beta tester for Qobuz's Android app for the past year or so. To fix the issue, I unjoined the beta program in the Play Store, downloaded and installed the GA client, and then joined the beta program again. When the first update occurred about 5 minutes later, I had the proper QC-capable beta app.

My hypothesis is that my addition to the QC beta testing user base did not displace my older beta affiliation at Google, and so they were providing the app appropriate to that older designation. But I don't know for sure.

Oh, and I can now direct music playback to the beta QC desktop application on my MacBook, which works rather like Tidal Connect or Spotify Connect. Really looking forward now to next week's firmware push to my WiiM devices!!! :)

Is the Qobuz Android beta app being delivered via the Google Play Store, or is it a separate APK which needs to be downloaded and sideloaded? If so, what is the name of the beta Qobuz app? (I have never signed up for Qobuz beta software before - too interested in listening to music!)

It's delivered via the Play Store.

So I received the firmware update for the WiiM amp. But it’s still not showing up as a target in the Qobuz beta app. Maybe Qobuz still hasn’t whitelisted my amp yet? Oh well probably still needs some more time.

And don't be surprised if QC functionality sees a staggered rollout across WiiM's products. While the core code base may be uniform, there has been enough variation between the products that more regression testing needs to take place before a new feature or fix is released, even in beta. While WiiM has stated that the QC beta firmware will be pushed to testers next week, they haven't been specific about whether it'll go to all supported devices or only to a subset at first.

A good question has been asked (in French) over on Qobuz's forum:

"At the time of installation it is announced that the beta version will replace the existing version. Is it true that favorites and playlists will be deleted?"

True or not you should always be prepared to lose anything on the device when using a beta.

Surely playlists and favourites are held at account level and wouldn’t be impacted at app or device level?
Yes, and the fact that Denon and Marantz users have not reported any problems of that sort calms the unsettled mind. :)

That said, *any* change, beta or production, can have bad or unforeseen consequences. Not all situations in a complex user environment can be tested thoroughly in advance. So securely backing up data that are important to one is always a best practice.
