Ongoing Beta Beta Test: Qobuz Connect

I had my Ultra and Pro synced yesterday playing music from an attached hard drive. I've done this quite a bit but yesterday there was an obvious delay between the two players. I've never had this issue before as the players in two different systems always sync perfectly. Could this be due to the beta firmware being in the Pro and not the Ultra? Or do the Pro and Ultra both have the Qobuz beta firmware?

I just got notice for firmware updates for both the Pro and the Ultra. Installed both updates and will see if the updates corrected the lag issue. Just checked and there is still a delay that causes an echo type issue. I checked both players and the delay settings are both set to 0. I did an Auto Sync of both players but still have the delay causing the echo.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

You have the new firmware already? Still waiting for mine.

If I had to guess, I think the Pro's firmware for the QC beta was finished earlier than for all the other WiiM devices, where there has been base code divergence over time. So that could be an explanation for the behavior you're seeing. Either way, report the unwelcome change in synch behavior to WiiM.

ETA: And FWIW, I just applied the updates to my Ultra and Pros, and none of them show up as QC targets. So still waiting for next week's beta firmware push.

Do we have confirmation that the Pro has the QC beta or is that an assumption that the recent public firmware release included it?

So in the absence of firmware for my WiiM Pro yet I have a Marantz Amp that has Qobuz Connect feeding a WiiM and sending it round all rooms. Qobuz connect seems rock solid so far so if WiiM implement well then this is going to be such a boost to WiiM and Qobuz

An even bigger boost for Denon/Marantz/HEOS since they did not support Qobuz previously.

Yesterdays Pro Plus update doesn't have the Quobuz Connect functionality. Are you sure it's implemented in any other version? Or just hopeful thinking?
The latter, apparently. ;)

I'm guessing WiiM will include a note in the beta QC firmware update banner that it includes support for QC. Although WiiM sometimes underpromises and overdelivers, I think the push will still occur next week as previously communicated.

I wonder why WiiM didn't wait a few days to release the latest firmware instead of rolling out a new version next week. Or are only the activated beta testers really given their own version? Hence the request for MAC addresses?

Yes and yes. And Qobuz, for their part, are whitelisting those MAC addresses to enable QC-mediated communication with their cloud service.

Yeah, they’re generally given a beta version of the firmware which isn’t the same as the public release - it’s not an individual release but released to the group of beta users whose devices have been whitelisted.
