Does wireless work at all with Sub Pro?

Hello Forum
I got a new sub pro specifically to connect "seamlessly" to my wiim amp ultra. The connection is proving to be anything but seamless!

- My usual audio channel (LMS / Squeezelite running on amp ultra) has apparently a problem with wifi. Mentioned in a "by-the-way" manner on the setup page. No time frame for fixing known.
- Also via direct streaming (through the app), the subwoofer remains silent.

The _only_ way to use it is (unpaired!) wired RCA subout from the wiim ultra. So all in all just about everything the sub pro is marketed as unique doesn't work
- Room fit setup works, but the sub remains silent
- Sub doesn't work with squeezelite
- Sub doesn't work with wireless streaming also through the wiim amp

In that setup I don't _need_ a wiim device. Any other device will give better control and connection. So what's the catch?

So how on earth does one use it? I am very surprised and disappointed about the quality. Or do I simply have a faulty unit?

The firmware versions of my devices are shown in the figure. I shall be thankful for answers / pointers / support.

You're mentioning the WiiM Amp, the WiiM Amp Ultra and the WiiM Ultra, which are distinct devices. Do you own all of them and have tried connecting the WiiM Sub Pro to all of them, wired and wireless? Or are you using the WiiM Amp Ultra only and have been using ambiguous abbreviations?

How can Subwoofer RoomFit work if the sub remains silent? Do you actually hear any output while performing the Subwoofer RoomFit process?

What is your ultimate goal, now you are aware of the fact that LMS is not supported in wireless mode? Is a (working) wired connection acceptable for your use case? If not, then the Sub Pro is currently not the right device.

With the WiiM Sub Pro paired to your WiiM Amp Ultra (assuming that this is the amp you're really interested in using with the Sub Pro), can you provide screenshots of the subwoofer settings, which are integrated in the WiiM Amp Ultra setting, once both devices are paired?

I'm just trying to get a better understanding of your situation.

Once you get audio from the sub, might the use of the upnpbridge plugin in Lyrion allow the use of the amp and sub until native Squeezelite support arrives?

Thanks for the replies and sorry if I wasn't precise.
My "main" amplifier is the Wiim Amp Ultra. Running squeezelite and streaming from a local Lyrion Media Server.

I was hoping to pair a Wiim Sub Pro to the Wiim Amp Ultra and use it as a sub wirelessly. Apparently this isn't supported -> right?

So, I have now connected the Sub Pro to the Amp Ultra with the RCA cable.
As long as the pairing is active, the sub pro remains silent (i.e. no bass, no sound). It is as if, it were trying to stream via wireless. Also a direct bluetooth, or DLNA connection doesn't result in the sub working (not only squeezelite as the wiim website mentions)

I did a factory reset of the sub pro - which also removes the pairing - and connected the two devices via cable. Set the crossover and gain in the Wiim App (Sub out on Amp Ultra) and that is the _only_ way to get the two to work together.

So my point -
=> Wireless pairing and adding works. IP address, signal strength of wifi, etc - all are excellent.
=> Sound over Wireless does not work. Whichever way I try to use it.
=> Sound over RCA Wired connection works, UNLESS the pairing is on. Pairing has to be removed to disable wireless connection...
=> In this constellation it doesn't matter one bit whether the sub were Wiim or some other brand.

Am I missing out something here? Or could my device be defective?

I've just quickly fired up my Amp Ultra and wirelessly connected my Sub Pro to it, and while I don't get any sound from the sub playing from Lyrion to the Amp Ultra's Squeezelite client, I do get the sub playing if I use the Lyrion UPNPbridge plugin and play to the UPNP instance of the Amp Ultra.

One thought - what crossover frequency do you have the sub set at? Here are a couple of screenshots of my sub pro setup in the WiiM app

If you don't get a similar setup to mine playing then the next step would be to submit a ticket to WiiM via the more/feedback section in the app so they can inspect your device log files for clues as to why it's not working for you.

Deeply indebted @Burnside for the tests. It is indeed as you say. I could test the combinations as follows

=> in paired mode (RCA wired or wifi wireless) the sub does work with the lyrion UPNP bridge.
=> in paired mode sub works with bluetooth
meaning the wireless interface is okay as hardware. A relief to know that.

In my tests I saw that there are quite a few things that do not work

=> UPNP client from Synology DSM - sub remains silent
=> Lyrion in wired or wireless mode - sub remains silent (known issue)

The only way to use the sub with squeezelite and LMS is to factory reset and unpair. It then works (unpaired) over RCA.

By the way another bug - regardless of whether "sub out" is switched off or on, the sub continues to work.
All in all this gives me the impression that the software side of things is far from stable. Before getting this, I was quite impressed by wiim's software capabilities... I just hope they don't screw up their software too like the other known brand did ;)

Thanks for the inputs again. and @wiim please pull up yourself and fix the issues in the interest of your own reputation. Thanks.

The sooner you submit a ticket (perhaps referring to this thread), the sooner WiiM engineers will inspect your device logs to see if there's anything there to confirm the bug(s).

Could you expand a bit on the "upnp client from Synology DSM" - what are you using to access the NAS and what's running on the NAS?
