Introducing WiiM Amp Pro

Hi markitect,

I'm curious about how you're using the OPUS codec. If you could share your use case, I'd be happy to bring it to our team for further discussion. Thank you!
Hello, I'm using Opus on my phone. I used to have FLAC but due to the large file size, I instead opt to use Opus so I can bring my large library with me. I just think that Opus is transparent in much less bitrate. Don't get me wrong, I still use FLAC plugged into the USB port but organizing it via the wiim amp is not a good experience. I used to have bookmarks of Folders because Wiim does not support CD numbers in tags but I think a Rescan ruined it so I have to re-bookmark it all again.

Not that I’m aware of. I guess not that many have asked for it and that it therefore has low priority in Wiim’s plans, if indeed it’s there at all.
Right, I guess the codec is not that popular due to it being a last mover. MP3 is still king when it comes to lossy after all and that is ancient tech. Right now, youtube uses OPUS in their videos so if Wiim will implement some sort of youtube functionality, maybe they can implement OPUS with that.

Response regarding Roon Ready for Amp Pro.

Thank you for reaching out to us, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
The WiiM Amp Pro is currently awaiting Roon certification to be officially Roon Ready. In the meantime, we recommend using Chromecast to stream Roon music.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Since you’re a rookie, let me tell you anything that comes out from wiim as new product will go on roon certification for few months. They are not roon ready out of the box.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll share this request with our team to see if we can add support for it.

I'm also curious about why the CD number tags and rescan feature aren't working as expected. Could you please elaborate a bit more?

Bookmarks and playlists should work across rescans as long as you don't reformat the USB media or remove files.db from the root of the drive.

Apparently the Amp Pro is available in Germany:

I will compare the Amp Pro with the Nubert nuConnect ampX + WiiM Mini.

Can I switch to the next song directly on the Amp Pro or do I need the app/remote control? That would otherwise be an advantage with ampX/Mini.

It should, but it didn't. There was a recent update that 'rescanned' everything so bookmarks got fucked up. For example, I have 'folder 1' in bookmark but clicking it goes to 'folder 42'. Pointers probably changed.

For example, I have this set up.
-Album
--CD1
---Track1
---Track2
---Track3
--CD2
---Track1
---Track2
---Track3

Now if I open that Album in Wiim, it appears as this:

-Album
---CD1-Track1
---CD2-Track1
---CD1-Track2
---CD2-Track2
---CD1-Track3
---CD2-Track3

It must have been a rebuild rather than a rescan (in the terminology of the underlying server). Keeping a backup of files.db may have helped, as long as the update didn't require a change to the database itself.

Bookmarks and playlists based on MiniDLNA/WiiM USB are particularly fragile.

Folder structure is irrelevant for the vast majority of servers nowadays. Do you have discnumber and totaldiscs populated?

This is not folder structure though, these are tags. And it's tagged properly, I've made the tags in music bee.
