Need more power for my speakers

Return the Vibelink and get the 3e Audio A7 with the 10amp power supply. 140 watts to your beastly speakers should be plenty. I think the amp is on sale at Amazon. All in for under $350
Replacing the Vibelink Amp is pretty pointless until the root cause of the issue is known.

Yes, the HDMI is considerably louder than the Ultra's ethernet input.
This is highly unusual, not impossible but unusual. In most cases streaming services provide a far stronger signal than HDMI ARC. This coul indicate an issue with the Ultra, but if so, it should have been the same with your previous amp.

Is the loudness acceptable with HDMI-ARC?

By all means, try the optical connection (you'll not be losing any features).

Yes loudness of content displaying on the TV (like Netflix, EPL, YouTube etc) is perfectly fine; however if I am running the Spotify client on my PC or tablet and wanting the sound on my main hifi, my devices act like a remote for Spotify Connect on the Wiim, so it uses the ethernet input to download the music stream.

I guess could stop what I was doing, go to the lounge, start up the tv, run the Spotify app in the smart part of the tv. But that is no where near as convenient as just using the Spotify app wherever i am and regardless of what device I'm on.

Tomorrow I'll try a digital connection between the tv and Wiim Ultra. Or between the Ultra and the Vibelink?

Any chance you need to raise the (digital) volume on your source device when streaming Spotify?

As other sources are fine, the issue is probably with the Spotify settings.

Did you check the "Volume Leveling" (or "Sound Check" on some devices)?
