Unable to EQ When Dolby Activated

I recently acquired an Amp Ultra and a pair of Audio Pro A10 Wiim editions to use as surrounds for a TV setup. These are my first Wiim devices so it took me a bit to build up some familiarity with the app and how to play with the customization options but I feel pretty comfortable after a few days of use at this point. I got everything setup using a pair of bookshelf speakers for the front and the A10s as surrounds but noticed that when Dolby is activated I'm able to adjust the EQ but the settings don't take effect on the devices. I've tested this using both the Arc and optical connections and they both behave the same. If I deactivate Dolby the EQ setting do get applied however the front speakers return to a L/R setup and lose the phantom front center arrangement and the surrounds return to L/R from SL/SR which is less desirable. My objective is to adjust the EQ to become more dialog friendly when using for TV while preserving the Front and Surround arrangements so any advice would be appreciated.

Additional observations
- Changing the EQ on all 3 devices has no impact on sound with Dolby activated
- No difference when using EQ presets or manual adjustments
- Turning EQ off/on has no impact on sound with Dolby activated
- Adjusting EQ with Dolby off will apply changes but settings don't remain applied when activating Dolby again
- When Dolby is active the VU meter on the display screen shows no activity but does once deactivated (not a concern just an observation)
- Rebooting devices had no impact

Hi

As you say, all EQ seems to be disabled when playing Dolby. I don't know if this is a bug, but I recommend you submit a ticket via the feedback section of the WiiM app.

Thanks for the suggestion. I wasn't aware of the ticket process but was able to submit one thanks to your advice and got a fairly quick reply from customer support. They did confirm that EQ was not currently supported when using Dolby.

Thank you for contacting us, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Unfortunately, EQ is currently not supported when Dolby playback is enabled. We’ve noted your request and will consider it for a future update.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best Regards,
WiiM Support

Glad you posted this and I saw it. I don't see a disclaimer on the FAQ page for 5.1 about the EQ not working, and there needs to be because it's one of the selling features of these things, and if somebody buys a WiiM amp to go with their Ultra for surrounds (like I was considering doing) and discovers the EQ doesn't work in suround mode, they might just return it. That's quite the deal breaker

Your description describes exactly what I experienced here lol. Part of the the early adopter price we pay as end users for the developers to learn from I suppose.

Wow, this is really surprising and disappointing. I was eyeing Amp Ultra as one of the rare "modern" devices that can decode Dolby sound. I really don't wish to buy a full blown AV receiver. I hope they add EQ for Dolby soon.

Does at least room correction work with Dolby? Since that's basically just EQ too...
