Which amp to match the Ultra?

I have ordered the "same" although from Audiophonics:

Should arrive tomorrow. Bigger chassis though, but not by much. I think i looks more like the Ultra design wise. But thats just me.

Speakers are ATC SCM 7mk3 and XTZ 12.17 Edge subwoofers.
Good amplifier.

I have an Audiophonics ncore nc125mp.
I did the lowering of the gain mod on my amp ( desoldering 2 resistors ) , now its about 12 dB gain which is perfect for me . Before, the volume control had to be below 50 % most of the time .

If you use the internal dac of the WiiM ultra I guess you can select max output from the dac between 500 mv, 1V to 2V .
If the gain is to loud you could try 500 mv.

Hi,
I couldn't find in this thread if anyone has already paired the much-hyped Fosi Audio V3 Mono with the WiiM Ultra.
From what I gathered from tests and YT reviews, this is supposed to be the winning combo (or is it?).
Since I have a V3 Mono pair on the way, I would really like to hear from anyone who's already paired these pieces together (or has paired any WiiM streamer with V3 Monos).
Thanks

...but in the meantime?

I'd also like to hear from anyone using that Ultra + Fosi V3 monos combo.

I’ve that combo. I’m coming from NAD M33 so I’m used to more high end, but after comparing them I decided to sell the M33 and keep the Ultra and V3 mono. For 5500 Eur less, I’ve more or less the same sound quality, and a better software. Now I’m just waiting for WiiM to sort out the room correction, then it will be a killer combo.

What about the Fosi ZA3? Any advise? Thankyou.

I've used the Ultra with a Fosi ZA3 amp and MoFi SP8's, sounds great.
I've used the Ultra with a Buckeye Amps NCx500 and MoFi SP8's, sounds great.
I've used the Ultra as a preamp (analog and digital) into Klipsch "The Nines" powered speakers, sounds great.

Basically, the Ultra sounds great and is very versatile. With its EQ or PEQ you can tailor the sound to your ears with the gear you have.

As a music streamer using Amazon Music I would rate the Ultra's Amazon Music app #1, the original Amazon Music app being cast to the Ultra from my phone as #2 and Roku's TV Amazon Music app (HDMI) as #3 for sound quality to my ears.

However for streaming Amazon Music I find myself using the original Amazon Music app cast from my phone the most. The Ultra's Amazon Music app just takes a bit too long to load a song (unless it's queued).

I don't know if i'm in the right (sub)forum but i have the Ultra on pre-order and am planning to pair it with 2 Fosi Audio ZA3 amplifiers in dual mono configuration. I am just not so sure how to connect the both and which cables to get. Guess i need 2 single (ended)/mono rca cables but i can't seem to find them or i am not sure i have found the right one.

Hope you guys already have the Ultra and also 2 ZA3's in dual mono configuration and can share which cables you have and how you have it connected :)

That's exactly what you need.

But you don't have to go for a single cable like e.g. this one:

Just go for a stereo cable. Most stereo RCA cables (but not all) can be split by just tearing them apart, easily.

Since the Ultra will be a pre-pro, I'm curious to know what amp will everyone be matching the Wiim with.

I've been looking for somethings similar in size to the Ultra with at least 80w per channel (stereo).
I have 2 combinations in my home.
As stated above its important to match the speakers with the amp, and the amount of energy required to drive them to fill the room size your playing your music.

My small rooms are Emotiva Basx A2 Flex, because it's very flexible, great sound, has trigger in and was under $300, powering Philharmonic Audio Ceramic Mini speakers and also the True Minis.

I'm my large rooms I'm using Audio by Van Alstine AVAHIFI.com NP1 amplifier, with Philharmonic Audio BMR book shelf speakers.

These are all proving to be excellent combinations and I love working with companies who pick up their phone when you can, but still remain affordable, with value based business and products.

I know there are hundreds of choices, these just happened to be mine.

Hmmm, i'm not so fond of fiddling with original cables haha. I can also use certain single/mono subwoofercables? (like the one you put a link for on Amazon)

Honestly, I can't think of a job less fiddly than just slowly pulling on a stereo RCA cable. :) This cable e.g. is 4,08€ plus tax in stereo. Buy two and leave one plug unconnected at each end. ;)

Subwoofer cables are no different from other RCA cables. If you insist on spending extra money you can go with these. Personally would still prefer having a red plug on my cable going to the right mono amp and a white plug on my cable going to the left mono amp. But that might just be my inner Monk.

These are advertised as being "sold by pair", so I assume that the left and right cable are not connected. 12,42€ plus tax.

If that's too cheap, here's another option at 36,58€ for two single cables:

Just wondering why the use of really cheap interconnect. I don't buy into the whole "low oxygen / polarized / mono directional" cable hype, but do believe, and hear, a difference between the tenner a pair or "included just to get you up and running" cables and better quality ones. For example, a pair of low to low mid range Chord or Audio quest RCA cables would be around €70 to €85.
Isn't it worth spending that much on WiiM interconnects, or have I (wrongly?) assumed the WiiM Ultra to be better quality than it is?

I cannot hear the difference between a 10€ RCA cable and a 80€ RCA cable, no matter which gear I use. :)

Just get yourself parasound halo jc1 and never look back. It can drive even 2 ohms. This will be your endgame on buying amp again.
