Which NAS works well with WiiM Pro?

For 2 bay models it's only ~£140 difference between the J (223J) and Plus (224+).
In that case, I would definitely go for the 224+. However, thank you for pointing out the 225+ as that is what I would likely get.

"only"? That's like 50% the price lol.
I truly understand and respect what you mean but I see it as a one time investment for the next 5 to 7 years. I'd rather sacrifice a bit at this stage than hit a brick wall after 2 years.

What benefit do the plus versions provide? - sorry, I'm not technically well versed with NAS unless I research the issue.

Probably RAM / NVME cache upgrades? With faster CPU.

What exactly will be using it for?

I'm not too fussed about slightly higher running costs as long as the solution itself is good and reliable.

I found Synology audio station/media server artwork creation not that great. Created about 20GB of hidden folders/files, I think it created one directory with multiple png/tiff per album or track, can't remember. The constant indexing/file check update to slow system down.

ie if I'm converting or updating music in the music dir it'll keep on (audio station/media server) checking and updating those files.

Best for the software to only check files manually process.

Can one disable the artwork creation in order to stop that entire process? Lists without images is what I want.

I think Roon is expensive but it's probably the only platform that can play anything from anywhere, all within its phone app.

EDIT: I suppose PLEX is another interesting solution for both music and movies - have any of you used it?

Not sure it's pretty basic. All I know is it was slowing down, if I was mass tagging, converting etc. I used Winscp to SSH into the nas and delete all hidden \@eardir that was within each folder and reclaimed back 20-30GB

Here is what audio station/media server does per album. In each album it creates multiple hidden sub directories , of every track, and in each a few files.

Absolute hog of HD space overall
