I wonder how much each one costs...I would need 3 to turn my 2.1 setup into a full 5.1. And I also wonder how well/if they'll even mesh well with my LS50 Metas and SVS Micro-3000.

I do wonder if it's actually better to just run a phantom center with some good speakers, rather than using a wireless option. 🤔

Why would wireless make any difference?
You'd have to use specific speakers, since there's no center channel output on the amp. So your options are limited to something that might not sound as good as your $1500+ speakers.
(though that depends on what speakers you pair the amp with, and realistically most people will probably pair it with less expensive options)
A great deal of people run surround setups without a physical center channel as it doesn't perform as well.

Admittedly, I'm still not sure if I get your point exactly.

Some very knowledgable people like e.g. Peter Lyngdorf (the founder of every other Hi-Fi company on this planet) have declared to actually prefer a virtual centre speaker. But this has nothing to do with if it's wireless or not. No WiiM device (and this isn't limited to the upcoming WiiM Amp Ultra) supports a hardware connection to any kind of centre speaker.

My point is the following.
With the wiim amp ultra (and other wiim products) you have two options.

1. Run the surround system with a virtual center channel, using your stereo speakers, connected to the amplifier.
2. Run the surround system with a wireless center channel, limited to the speakers supported by wiim's app.

The wireless option can only be done with speakers that are supported, and these supported speakers might not be of the same quality as your stereo ones.
So. Which setup would actually be better?

For rear speakers the wireless option makes sense, though you could run a second amp with your own passive speakers. But I do not see the wireless center channel option being that useful in an amp setup. In a setup where you have 5 of the wiim sound speakers I feel that makes more sense.

The Eversolo Play (without CD) is €699 which is c.£590.

The THD and SNR specs as quoted by Eversolo are pretty much identical to the Vibelink, by the latter has 100W into 8 ohms vs the Play's 60W.

As long as the Ultra Amp comes in at £600, it'll be the same money but better.

If it comes in at £550 or less it'll be cheaper and better.

If it comes in at much over £600 you still have the option of buying the Ultra and a separate amp.

It remains to be seen if the Play has PEQ, if so how many bands, and what controls there are for the sub.
You bring up a good point that I haven’t seen mentioned yet (pardon me if I missed it): the app. I haven’t seen what Eversolo has to offer, but Wiim Home is about the cleanest, most feature-rich and user-friendly that I’ve seen. Granted I haven’t used many, but this one has yet to evoke a profane utterance and has been flawless since I first fired it up, which is more than I can say for any of the others that I have used. Definitely something that needs to be taken into consideration when comparing brands.

This is EXACTLY what I'm hoping for. Have one c10 and found a good deal on the second.

To someone who asked previously, you you use a regular wiim amp for 5.1 surround. I have that setup with an ultra up front.

Just started playing with the wiim Dolby and once I figure out how to get my steam deck to pass a Dolby signal through my TV, I think I'm ditching my soundbar for movies / games!

I suppose this is equally a question about the Ultra… are there any Roon users of that, here? If so, what does the display show when streaming via Roon? I imagine there is not a useful display of item playing, etc?

I currently have two Amps (one an Amp Pro), and the Amp Ultra would interest me if the screen were useful. But I use my Amps mostly via Roon, so I'm wondering the screen will actually give me anything?

thank you.

assuming it costs much less than the sum of the two separate components, it seems to me that Wiim have practically killed all their before products: Ultra, Amp, Vibelink etc... making them useless compared to this.
It seems to me a kind of commercial suicide (even more so considering that the Vibe link has been on sale for a few weeks and the ultra is almost just born...).
Agreed, I was literally completing my purchase of the Vibelink when my Google news feed came up with news on WiiM Amp Ultra, I took a pause to do some research and it was confirmed. Later I came to discover Eversolo have also brought out an "all-in-one" Streamer Amp! Now I'm in a dilemma!

Hallo, noob question regarding this all-in-one device: if this is planned as a living room streaming/amp central, how am I supposed to connect my wired headphones? There is no line out to connnect an external headphone amp and I do not see any dedicated headphone out. That would be a deal breaker for me...

Unfortunately you need a separate USB connected headphone amp.

I have an ad-hoc center channel with WiiM Pro. The setup is not 5.1. I need to hear dialogue clearly when watching videos.

In order to march timbre with left and right channel, I go with a same brand active monitor that has wider horizontal dispersion.
