WiiM Home App v3.2.1 Update – Apr 30, 2025

If I start with the volume set to zero then put the app in the background if I increase the volume to maximum using the phone volume controls the WiiM volume increases to 24. Not impressed.
The available volume range looks like depending on what the phone volume is before starting WHA?

I got some problem with the Android version of this update. Lost access to the Audio Output menu that now only says "Please choose your audio output interface" and shows no information. No such problem with the iPad/iOS version.

Probably depends on what the WiiM volume is before putting the app in the background as well.
Yes. It actually looks like WiiM forget to "push" current volume to the Android API when going into the background. So if your phone volume is zero at the time you put WHA in the background, then you can only turn the volume up, never below the volume set in WHA.

Same problem here... plus I see "failure" one or two second at the bottom of the screen

I have not had that problem on my two Android units. Please try rebooting the phone first.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 6 lite, Samsung A53 5g and Ultra all rebooted .... same problem
please submit a support ticket through the feedback section of the WiiM app. A log of your device will be sent with it to help resolve the issue.

As an owner of both, Apple and Android devices, I just want to say that this is one of those things where Apple really wins--functions function functionally the same way consistently across devices. With Android, each device works differently or sometimes not at all. Always this sort of mess with my Android stuff, and never with my Apple stuff.

Yes, that is because Apple is the only company that makes Apple products. 😄

Which in many cases is a good thing.

Again, as an owner of stuff in both builds, I'm not saying that Apple is just better. However, for things like this, it certainly tends to be.

There's a lot of things I can't do on my Apple stuff that I can with Android. Facts. No way around it.

But that's only good when it even works.

The Apple stuff doesn't do it all, but what it does, it always does.

Yes, I understand very well what you are saying. Recently, manufacturers making Android devices are starting to build their own ecosystems. e.g., Xiaomi's HyperOS is said to be very similar to iOS. But in reality, it is still in its infancy.

To be fair to WiiM they have made the volume controls on Android fail to work correctly on all Android phones. That is consistency 🤣

I wonder if WiiM did any testing at all before the release. :(
They can only test on so many devices. If you test on one iPhone and one iPad, you’ve tested on basically all of them.

I’ll install this on my Android DAP and my Android tablet and see how it goes.

Yes, perfectly illustrated why I have an Android tablet. Wanted an OLED display in widescreen format that didn’t break the bank. Have enjoyed it for years now and mostly works fine. Apple FINALLY came out with an OLED iPad last year, which I bought, and it’s still letterbox format so I only use it to watch letterbox videos. Still end up using the Lenovo tablet most of the time since most videos are widescreen format.

Also LDAC and LHDC support on my Android DAP. Only shitty AAC on iDevices. This stuff matters; Android devs get it, Apple doesn’t.

There is a strange issue with the volume control in the lock-screen. It is not going to zero when turned all the way down or muted. The minimum volume possible depends on what the volume was when leaving the WiiM Home App.
Yes, the limitation appears to be in both directions for me. I've never asked for this feature anyway, so I don't care much.

The lock-screen also stay active after the WiiM Home App is closed but doesn't work. I have seen that with some other apps also, so maybe a android issue?
Probably. On my Poco X6 Pro (Android 15/HyperOS 2.0) the lock screen widget disappears as soon as I close the WiiM Home app.
