The popup works, at least according to my experience, and if it does, the two other options seem pointless. I don’t particularly care about this but it feels like the app is getting more convoluted while it would make more sense, to me at least, to tidy it up a bit.
I got you point the first time but don't agree and just wanted to give some context about how this came into existence. I wonder what you would suggest instead regarding this particular topic.

For my Mini and Pro the update check in the device settings doesn't redirect but performs an update check for the selected device.
As both devices are registered for beta firmwares an option to list available beta for the device is also present.
Happened to me with either my WiiM Amp Pro or Amp Ultra, I cannot say for sure.

But indeed, I cannot confirm this behaviour with my Ultra (still waiting for the 5.2.720xxx firmware update). Maybe it was just a glitch?

The "Join Beta Testing" button displays directly on the Device Info page for all my WiiMs.

Just the popup would do as the buttons in both locations seem to just tell you that there’s no update. Might even push a notification to the app icon like messenger and email apps do when it’s time to update.

Another approach might be to look at Roon, Plex etc. and figure out why certain things work and others don’t and take inspiration from there regarding tidying up things a little.

Honestly, I do share your concerns in general. I just think you picked a very bad example. People do want to search for updates and they want to be able to update multiple devices at once. There's nothing to be gained in removing these features, hidden down deep. If anything, people want more control about rejecting updates.

So far, there is a notification arrow after you open the app. App icons displaying notification dots (or badges, as Apple calls them) are a double-edged sword, at least. I for one wouldn't want to see one more app trying to catch my attention ...

That's certainly worth a separate thread. Don't you think?

@harkpabst :
... "Right now the update check is still there in the device settings, but all it does is to redirect you to the app settings page for multi-device update. This looks reasonable enough to me."
Which device?

I checked this again and couldn't reproduce my finding.

I concluded that this was a one-time glitch, indeed.

PS:
Alternatively it might have been a brain fart on my part.

We are still waiting for the beta firmware for simultaneous RC and EQ which was promised for the second week in April.
Hi slartibartfast, team

We're rolling out support for simultaneous Room Correction and EQ in the next firmware release, starting with the WiiM Ultra. To ensure full compatibility with your existing Room Correction profiles, we’ve taken extra time to resolve some underlying compatibility issues. Thanks for your patience—stay tuned, it's coming soon!

How does this support know the difference between existing Room Correction profiles and other PEQ filters? Will this feature be available if Room Correction is performed with REW and the filters are manually entered or will it only be available after using WiiM Room Correction?

That's certainly worth a separate thread. Don't you think?

My example was just from the top of my head regarding unnecessary clutter. Even my cheap wi-fi plugs just show a list of available devices with an option to update them all at the same time. You could simply put an update all button on top of the list and update buttons with every single device on the list. But since the updates are being pushed anyway, I don’t see much use for this.

It would be worth a separate thread but I don’t feel that anyone would be listening. But at the same time, streamlining the app could make it really great instead of another Sonos.

In the beta version, EQ and RC exist as independent functions, both of which can be switched on/off individually; you can also switch off RC and use only manual PEQ; PEQ still provides the same functionality and the independent RC has this screen structure.

RC profiles are listed on the RC screen and can be edited and evaluated.

Does that mean that manually entered Room Correction profiles will not be compatible with this new feature? A workaround could be to edit a WiiM Room Correction with filters from REW I suppose.

Pulling the update all function from its current place to the top of the devices tab is what I would call clutter, for sure.

I didn't follow...
but the mmm which could be the most suitable "general public" approach, is it relevant?

mmm still seems to me now, what should be the priority in the case of wiim products concerning a "non-expert" rc mode
( with a small video for explain the methode)
(see with a small choice of simplified intelligent presets: library type, 3 voices, with or without subwoofer... to make it even simpler for the general public... vs "" expert"" mode)
;-)

Sorry, I'm not sure what you want to do, but you can manually enter EQ values created in REW into the PEQ (or RC profile) of the WiiM.

The Ultra beta version is an older one, released on 30 April, and doesn't seem to have import functionality yet.

You can use PEQ in parallel with Room Correction with this new feature if Room Correction has been applied automatically by WiiM Room Correction. Can you also do that if Room Correction filters have been manually added to PEQ?

If I understand what you are saying, yes, of course you can 😄

You can overlay a manually added PEQ on top of a profile saved by WiiM RC and use it at the same time.

Well, you'll find out soon enough 🙂

I don't necessarily want to overlay a manually added PEQ on top of a profile saved by WiiM RC. I want to overlay a manually added PEQ on top of an RC profile that was added manually and only exists as a set of filters in PEQ.
Can PEQ filters be saved as an RC profile?

Sorry, I don't understand more and more 😂 What is a filter? 😵‍💫

As I said at the beginning, PEQ and RC are independent, so I don't think there is the ability to save a custom PEQ as an RC profile. But both PEQ and RC can be edited manually.

These are filters

Currently Room Correction profiles are saved in the PEQ list. With this new feature they will be moved (according to WiiM) to a new RC profile list. Many users generate the filters to be used for Room Correction using a third party program (REW or Housecurve for example) then manually add these filters to PEQ (because import isn't supported yet). If these PEQ filter sets cannot be converted to the new RC profiles then adding an RC profile in this way would mean having to edit an RC profile generated by WiiM Room Correction by changing the filter values to match those from the third party program.
Hope those makes sense, this is why I could never be a teacher 🤣
