Hi all!

The Audio Pro W series speakers are designed to work exclusively with the Audio Pro Control app. This app is built on Linkplay software, which is also used in WiiM devices. However, it does not offer the complete feature set available in WiiM OS products or in the WiiM Edition Audio Pro A10 and C10 MKII speakers. Similarly, WiiM-branded devices are not intended to appear in the Audio Pro Control app.

We recognize that recent messaging from Audio Pro may have caused some confusion. We worked with Audio Pro to clarify this message and they are working on clarifying this with media and users to make sure they have a smooth user experience with their products.
As in comment #14.

This is the "Sonos" moment.

Maybe the LinkPlay company is no longer associated with WiiM and have moved to Audio Pro?

So there is now competition between them and then they have removed the possibility to link them together.

Just a guess.
I must have missed this... for clarification Linkplay makes WiiM products. WiiM is the brand our audio products. If you check out the copyright on any WiiM products, it's all Linkplay Technology Inc. For that matter, I work for Linkplay :)

So all products that utilize LinkPlay should be able to Link and Play. Is that not the whole idea?

My interpretation is no.
I have never heard of such a story..

As I have said many times, the WiiM app is not an official app for AudioPro products. It is just that the apps were made by the same software company and therefore interoperable.
(Although, it would have been better to filter it from the beginning..)

Thanks Ryan. This information clarifies a lot of the unknowns concerning this announcement.

I would note that Audio Pro originally said that room equalization was part of their app upgrade, but their website no longer says that. That is one area where the two apps differ in features and there may be more.

Thanks again.

Can anyone using Plex from the wiim home app check if the albums/artists thumbnail size within the home app are still correctly displayed with the latest update? Because mine are displayed the wrong size: large and vertical instead of the small squares. (thumbnails on the tracks page and the main plex screen are displayed correctly however)...

For me, the W in Pro Audio indicates that it can be used/integrated with Home app/Wiim equipment.
They should drop the W and instead write by LinkPlay.
The problem is probably that the error regarding the name has gone too far, so it is too late to change it.
But they should remove the W. I think people are going to get irritated when they get it wrong.

You could send a ticket to WiiM Support (and AudioPro Support) and ask them to allow the new AudioPro W series to connect to the WiiM home app. If thay get enough requests, I don't think there is not any chance this decision will be reversed..

(If it's a proposal that does not benefit AudioPro, it may be difficult, but it is worth trying to persuade them.)

Turns out you were wrong with both of your posts then. But don't worry, this can happen even to the best. ;)

Luckily, the WiiM community is willing to help even with the Nintendo Wii, if required.

Given what’s been said and with the statement/changes on the audio pro site, I don’t hold out much hope there. While they do share a common Linkplay heritage, with the emergence of WiiM’s Sub Pro and the imminent WiiM Sound (and who knows what else is in the pipeline), they are now competitors in the wireless speaker market. As has been said earlier and elsewhere, interoperability has been serendipitous but not officially promoted or supported.

I suspect the main reason that many people currently have non WiiM edition Audio Pro speakers is that the WiiM editions are not available in Europe for reasons that have never been explained.
Soon WiiM will have one speaker available which isn't portable while Audio Pro will have a wide range including one which is battery powered. Maybe the new Audio Pro speakers will become available as WiiM editions but if they do will they be available in Europe?

I agree, but I think it's better than continuing to complain here in a non-constructive way..

Sorry, I didn't understand what you were trying to say.. The relevance of that story to interconnection is not clear for me 🤔

If nobody had Audio Pro speakers then the interconnection issue wouldn't matter. If the WiiM edition speakers had been available worldwide then nobody would have bought the standard Audio Pro speakers hoping they would work with the WiiM app.
Did many people already have Audio Pro speakers before the WiiM editions came out?

I think Audio Pro were a well established brand even before WiiM came to market, and I’m sure they, along with others like Edifier, had been mentioned here and elsewhere long before the WiiM Edition speakers were released.

Did anyone use them with the WiiM app though?

I guess some users originally only had AudioPro speakers and added the WiiM when they found out about the interoperability.

If I were AudioPro, I would not be happy to see so many users of my products using the WiiM app 😂

I can't buy AudioPro in my country and I don't know how well it sells.

They wouldn't mind if they sold more speakers would they? 😂 The change of narrative is more likely to have come from WiiM.

This—once WiiM no longer needs a partner in the speaker space, the interoperability gets yeeted.
