Wiim products have been / are still being sold as "[compatible with] other devices which use Linkplay technology" e.g. 2:50ish in this vid pushing C3 Addons as an "add on" -
So, you are blaming WiiM/LinkPlay for some Bad Info provided by an unaffiliated 3rd-party vlogger??
You expect WiiM to invest in efforts to control the blogosphere related to loosely-associated products let alone their own??
(That is what Apple would do... Wouldn't you be calling out WiiM for manipulation if they did so??)

Please calm down. Richer Sounds is a decades-established stereo seller* not a "vlogger", and people are potentially being miss sold stereos! (Yes I have emailed them.)

*spent most of my lunchtimes in their London Bridge branch in the mid 90s, such happy days :)

OK, so you have an emotional connection to Richer Sounds - is this why you are pushing their blame onto WiiM/LinkPlay??
Let us know what response you get from your email, as they are one of the best respected Audio Equipment stores in the UK.

Genuinely, I don't know how to reply to you / to that. So I'll just say goodbye.

To everybody else - I utterly love my Wiim, this last coupla months I've listened to more music than I have done for absolutely YEARS, and despite my aging ears it's sounding better than it ever has. But when one of their software updates kiboshes for no good reason something which used to work perfectly well, folk won't lament the end of serendipity they will believe that Wiim has broken their stereo. Let's hope the Venn segment of Wiim+Audio Pro owners overlaps neatly with membership here so you can tell them where they went wrong.

A bit early but merry Xmas to you all.

This is just the way the world of technology is these days, like it or not. When a hardware manufacturer creates a partnership with a software developer (who also has a hardware component) there is no guarantee that relationship will last forever. In this moment it does appear there is a pending resolution coming. But ultimately if there is an issue long-term, I don't think WiiM is responsible. Their products still work as expected, the other brands need to make good on their customer commitments.

In fact, Richer carries the full line of Wiim gear as well as Audio Pro speakers. If they were confused about the interoperability then a lot of users probably are also. The Audio Pro announcement of a Wiim based app, which got some good media coverage and then the withdrawal of that connection without comment and Wiim temporarily disabling Audio Pro speakers has caused confusion for many. I think Wiim needs to do more than just have a couple of posts on this forum to clear up the situation for all its users and dealers, even if the situation is not what many users would like. But that is what the PR team is for :)

Richer Sound is an authorized dealer of both Wiim and Audio Pro products. If they are not clear of the connectivity issues then I would say Linkplay has a marketing problem.

That YouTube video was made in August 2024 when WiiM and Audio Pro devices did work together. A year is a long time in HiFi 🙂

We should continue the discussion in the WiiM Home app v3.3.7 thread. :D

OK - my bad on that. I thought from the original post that it was new.

I still think Linkplay has a marketing problem with the confusion of the Audio Pro announcement and the subsequent temporary changes to WHA.

As I've said before, this compatibility is serendipitous but I don't recall it in any official WiiM product description
Well, there's this:

Play music everywhere with multi-room audio

Easily build your multiroom sound system with your existing AirPlay 2 speakers, Amazon Echo, and Google Home devices. Using your legacy audio devices, you can create a more flexible multiroom sound system with multiple WiiM Pros, WiiM Minis, or Linkplay-powered devices. WiiM Pro supports multiroom from various audio source inputs, including WiFi, BT, Aux, and SPDIF input, making it versatile with almost every music listening option.

Hi everyone! Our team has been paying attention and listening to you, they've decided that going forward we'll be working to ensure that compatible Linkplay enabled devices will show in the WiiM Home app. These devices may not have the same features over time as those running WiiM OS, which is primarily our own WiiM branded devices, and the WiiM Edition Audio Pro A10 and C10. Thanks for sharing your feedback!

PS, I'm going to go back and edit my earlier statement so it's got this info in it too.

Hi Ryan,
That's all very good, but does it include the AudioPro W gen?

I see the latest app update 3.3.7 didn't fix it.
I noticed that as well, reported it back in the ticket and got a response that indeed the fix wasn't included yet.
Apparently it should come in another version of the app in a few days, but so far I got no confirmation on exactly which version this should be.
