Hello, hope you are all well.

I recently moved house and looking to update my systems.
I currently have a wired set up in one living room with the Wiim ultra connected to the amp. I’m looking to start a smart set up using Audio Pro devices, A38 floorstanders in other living room and C10s in kitchen and bedrooms. I was under the impression that I will be able to set up a multi room system through the Wiim ultra with these devices but now I’m unsure as I’ve noticed there is specific Wiim - Audio Pro models. Does anyone have any answers on this? There is mixed messages online. I’m hoping that all Audio Pro devices are compatible with the Wiim ultra 🤞🏻

Yes, I think all Audio Pro devices are compatible with Wiim and are displayed in the Wiim Home App. I use Audio Pro C5 mk2 in the kitchen. The main source is Wiim Pro.

If I remember correctly, @conn is running an extended multi-room setup consisting of WiiM and Audio Pro devices.

It's probably fair to note that neither Audio Pro nor WiiM will guarantee interoperability in case anything goes wrong. However, as long as Audio Pro uses Linkplay modules your chances are probably very good.

Thank you for your response. Is your C5 mk2 Wiim editions of the speaker or just standard Audio Pro versions? Also can you see the A38 and C20 models listed on your Wiim app? Cheers

So I finally have things running to my expectations for the most part after about 5 months of tinkering around between different speakers, configurations, (miserable Airplay & Chromecast)...

My setup now consists of 6 Audio Pro Speakers, 3 WiiM edition and 3 Non WiiM edition, a Wiim Pro plus & a WiiM ultra.

They all show up together in each app, either the WiiM app or the Audio Pro app. What does not show up is the non-WiiM edition speakers in the WiiM app when trying to create persistent groups. Not sure why and it's a bummer but whatever.

They all play together except for a recent issue that caused a linking problem. In my experience it took several tries to get them all linked together to play music at the same time. Per WiiM support the WiiM device needs to be the master device, which I was very aware, but the linking problem was still was happening. (see link below)

WiiM support told me it was a firmware update needed for my audio pro C3’s but the problem was noticeable prior to me adding the C3’s.

Regardless, they all play fine together once they get linked but I’m not 100% sure the problem is resolved yet, I’ll have to play around more this weekend to confirm.

I do feel that since these guys decided to hop in bed together that they need to support these speakers 100% and cant get upset with customers expecting both brands to work together regardless of the WiiM, Non WiiM edition thing.

I’d also add that while I do like my Audio Pro speakers, they seriously lack in customer support, their app is very weak, and they don’t seem to take much interest in their products (incorrect product details on Amazon, etc...). Maybe they sell better overseas and could care less, who knows… This is just my personal opinion as a customer, not intended to bash the brand…

I think it’s probably been mentioned before that the audio speakers are based on Linkplay modules similar to those in WiiM products. I expect Audio Pro licensed the original firmware and app from Linkplay and either do ongoing updates in house or contract Linkplay to update them - it seems that perhaps that they either lack the in house expertise or the contract costs them too much to keep in step with WiiM updates.

For the WiiM Edition speakers, I guess WiiM entered into some commercial agreement with Audio Pro to use their speaker hardware and have updated the WiiM app and firmware accordingly. With the upcoming release of the WiiM Sound, I can see the WiiM Edition speakers unfortunately being one-offs and not being promoted in the future, although I would hope WiiM would be true to their customer base and at least maintain the firmware.
