WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.633165 - Oct 23, 2024

Please review the WiiM Ultra update release notes below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us. This firmware update is being rolled out in stages, with devices updating sequentially over the next few days.

5.2.633165 (In Progress)

Release date:
10 / 21 / 2024

What's New:
  1. Fixed Output Resolution for Coaxial and Optical Out: Added an option to set fixed output resolution to prevent pop noises when changing sample rates. Find it under Device Settings -> Audio Settings -> Optical/Coax Output Resolution. (Limitation: Doesn't work for CastLite yet. Will fix this in the next release.)
  2. Improved Alarm Behavior for Plex: Default alarm sound will now play if Plex server is unavailable.

Bug Fixes:
  1. Playback Enhancements:
    • Fixed playback crash for Deezer alarms and presets.
    • Fixed noise issue when resuming Amazon Music.
    • Fixed no sound when switching between Bluetooth, Line or Optical inputs.
  2. Group Enhancement: Fixed unexpected device removal from group.

Didn’t # 1 was released on beta on Monday now it’s official? That was fast!

Another update and still no new clocks or meters, even though the road map had them scheduled for October 20th. 😣
Will we ever have news in this sense? Is it possible that WiiM is satisfied with such a limited use of the screen?🤔 I keep waiting!!

Hi Maurizio, Team

This updated firmware supports the new clocks. To make the selection, the app needs an update, which is targeted for next week. Please stay tuned!

I was pleased that the update occurred without a hitch. In the past, some had required a reboot of my computer and/or the WiiM.

Any news about roadmap to REPLAY GAIN usage on WiiM Ultra?
Nothing other than the beta for Tidal

That's a bit strange, since in flac files it only has to read the metadata field and apply a gain on playback... seems not that complicated (surely less when compared with streaming services)

Just checked again your link to the post and they're thinking on it (but no time frame for that)...

"In the future, we will extend Replay Gain support to Qobuz, Spotify, NAS, and more, as well as to playback files with embedded Replay Gain tags."

Thanks

We have no insight into Wiim’s development methodology or source code, or indeed their development priorities, so comments on how easy or complicated something is are best left to them :)
