I hope this is also fixed for playing to persistent group from Spotify app via Connect.

I have absolutely no issues with the way HDMI ARC is currently implemented. I hope it'll stay like that :) What has been changed technically to achieve this? Could you elaborate a bit?

I'll ask it here again: can we get the option for a plain black background for the full-size artwork playback screen?

There has been an issue with HDMI CEC Power Control right from the start. When enabled it works as expected but if disabled a connected TV still "see" the WiiM Ultra, even when the Ultra is in standby. So to avoid that the TV changes to external speakers every time it is turned on, I need to disconnect the HDMI cable unless I want to listen via the WiiM.

I surely hope this is what had been fixed now.

I still don't know what would need fixing. I always want to have my TV sound coming through the WiiM Ultra. Therefore, shouldn't it be visible to the TV even when in standby? The same way you'd want a soundbar or receiver to be visible by the TV all the time as well.

I am the same, but I could see a scenario where someone might prefer, say, to use headphones sometimes like late at night when people are asleep, and in that case, the TV might not send audio to other places unless the ARC speaker (in this case WiiM) is not detected.

Yes. That is what you get with CEC Power Control on.

I don't want to always have TV sound via WiiM. Only when watching movies. So I set CEC Power Control off and will have to select HDMI input manually when I need it. That is what has not been working.

On my 6y old LG smart TV that can be perfectly done through settings... I can simply switch between my BT headphones (directly connected to TV) or ARC output.

Ok, so what you're hoping for is that the TV will now detect when the WiiM is switched to HDMI input? That I can definitely see the added value of. Not sure if my TV would be able to do so, automatically switching the ARC output. This probably depends on the model :)

Yes. May be model depending. The switch works ok with current implementation on Ultra. The issue is that it's also switching when it should not (CEC off and standby).

I tested a beta version 3 months ago where all was working fine (at least for Sony TVs) but WiiM decided to not include this in the current releases. What I hope for is that this is finally getting included.

Guess we'll have to find out ourselves! :)
"Smarter HDMI ARC" is just a bit vague
True, but this ...
Your WiiM Ultra will no longer act as a TV speaker when not in HDMI mode—giving you more control.
... doesn't sound all that vague to me. :D

Let's just wait and see if it works like people expect it to. Personally, I'm never going to use it.

Coax output to my dac died after the update.

Maybe it was my power amplifier that died during the update. I can't get sound to it through the wiim either. Only get sound to my subwoofer after updating.

Make sure to power cycle your WiiM Ultra if anything doesn't work as expected after a firmware update:
Disconnect it from the mains power.
Wait about half a minute or so.
Reconnect the mains power and let it boot.

Tried many times. Even reset to factory. Rca output get 1 when i test it with multimeter so i think my nad is toast.

But i get same reading on rca output when trying one channel at a time. So still a chance my wiim does not put sound on the line out.
Honestly, I don't understand what you mean. Your getting "1"? One channel at a time? What exactly are your measuring and how?
