WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.708441 - Feb 22, 2025

Of course what matters the most in the end is acoustical performance)) but in order to achieve that performance we do all sorts tweaks like upgrading a DAC, or adding a subwoofer and so on..

I've been playing around with such things for about 15 years, and I'm quite firm in my opinion that you'll get better results with your preferred DAC and the Ultra sub out to your subwoofer set up with a good crossover point and room correction than with your preferred DAC running your speakers full range, room correction or not.

Thanks for the constructive feedback, I am half way there I guess) Just need to figure it out with RC. Either I am doing it wrong or the built in RC not very useful in the Ultra..

The subwoofer out needs one. How could it share the main DAC?
The ESS Sabre ES9038 Q2M DAC has only two channels, so only possible to use for RCA stereo output.

I’m unable to watch that video, but does it identify three separate DACs? I don’t see that there’s any need for more than one.
No only two. So maybe the headphones really do use the main DAC and there is an analog switch between the RCA output and the internal headphone amplifier?

The video do identify the op-amps used for the analog output and they are actually very high-end (very low noise and distortion).

Yes, they are very much part of the excellent Line Out performance of the Ultra.

Curators note: Please continue the non-sarcastic form of communication.
