WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.714249 - Apr 18, 2025

By HDMI mode, I’m referring to when the WiiM Ultra is set to the HDMI ARC input mode.
Ok. Same way I used it when you asked.
From what you’re describing, it sounds like you're requesting that the WiiM Ultra should not wake up from standby when the TV is turned on. However, we may not fully agree with this approach.
No, no, no. Please read carefully what I wrote!
When you set your TV’s audio output to the WiiM, we want the WiiM Ultra to automatically wake up when you power on your TV—even if the Ultra is in standby. This ensures a seamless experience without requiring users to manually power on the device
Yes. That's how it shall work. Not related to the issue at all.
This is precisely why many users appreciate HDMI CEC—it allows them to use a single remote to control both the TV and the WiiM Ultra, making everything easier and more intuitive.
Yes. Not related to the issue at all.
For your situation, I recommend turning off the "Automatically output to WiiM when TV is on" option and switching the WiiM Ultra’s input to a non-HDMI mode
That is exactly what I have done, as already described.
With this setup, when you turn on your TV, the WiiM Ultra should not respond to CEC commands—assuming your TV correctly implements the CEC protocol.
This is not the issue. IT IS NOT HOW THE WIIM IS BEHAVING. It is how the TV sees the WiiM Ultra. Please read my description carefully.
However, if your TV does not fully implement CEC commands (such as properly responding to the 'audio output switch' command by WiiM Ultra), you may need to manually change the audio output setting on your TV.
It does respond to CEC. I have also described that. It also respond to the CEC protocol telling the TV that it shall change to ARC output send by the WiiM, even though the WiiM Ultra is in standby!

Sorry, I simply don't know how to explain it to you. Please read carefully all the old posts. You are completely misunderstanding the issue.

ONE MORE TIME

With the WiiM Ultra in standby and the HDMI mode is OFF. When turning on the TV, the TV sees the WiiM as active and with input selection set to TV. This shall only be the case when HDMI mode is ON.

I'm also using the Ultra with a TV. My ideal setup would be a switch that would either:
* turn on the Ultra when the TV is turned on, control the volume with TV remote, turn off the Ultra with the TV (this is currently working), or
* turn on the Ultra only with Wiim remote - when the TV is turned on, it will use internal speaker, as if the HDMI cable is not connected

I understand that the current implementation does not support it, I have to change the Ultra input to something else than HDMI for the 2nd option to work, but that is one extra step for the user. Would you consider this?
Hi mehturt,

I believe your second proposal aligns with what hgo58 suggested as well. Let me take some time to think it over and discuss it with our team. Thank you again for your valuable feedback—we really appreciate it!

Not fully what I see as the issue.

The second opinion (HDMI mode off)
"when the TV is turned on, it will use internal speaker, as if the HDMI cable is not connected" shall work for WiiM in standby or if HDMI is not selected.

The options are already there, it's just not working correctly on all TV types, as the WiiM Ultra still show as active and with HDMI input selected on CEC, although it is not.

This is not a new feature. It is "just" a bug in current implementation.

WiiM only support ARC, not eARC.

eARC has never been on. I have always used ARC, I was talking about Enhanced or Standard HDMI settings. I am getting audio dropouts on Standard (ARC) anyway after testing...

Curious what "Never use surround sound" means on the GTV streamer. It's not PCM as far as I know.

Should be in a new thread, maybe not related to this firmware. Volume is a bit different now with this firmware. I like keeping it at 100% or close to it and using the speaker volume.

I’m going to take a stab a this too, because how the ARC behaves is important and would determine me buying another Ultra (especially if I can get my wish for a downmix of LFE into 2.0, which is another matter).

@WiiM Support — please imagine this scenario:

My five year old daughter, or a guest visiting my home, turns on my TV to stream a show. They do not know how to operate my TV menus, my Ultra, or my full system, and I very much do not want to teach them or have them using my nice system. Every time in this scenario, I want the TV to behave as if I don’t even have an HDMI cable plugged into the TV’s ARC port which is connected to the Ultra input. I just want the TV to be in blissful ignorance and automatically use the TV speakers.

What you need to provide is the option for the HDMI connection to appear as totally dead and nonexistent to the TV when the Ultra is in standby mode. Yes, many or most people want the whole thing automated and devices to magically turn on via CEC, but others want their TV to default to the TV speakers when they don’t specifically want the Ultra involved.

Conversely, when it comes time for me to use my system, I am fine if the TV does not recognize the ARC connection until I manually turn on the Ultra, or turn it on and select the HDMI input. If that means a couple seconds and an extra remote button press or two, so be it.

Is that at all helpful? Are we all on the same page?

Anyone else having massive lip sync issues when watching TV (using hdmi arc) after this latest firmware? Ticket raised because I can't watch TV like this, it's horrible!
I also started having "massive" lip sync issues today. The automatic Sync Audio did not fix the problem. Manually adjusting the Sync Audio did nothing to fix the problem either. What cured the issue is I went to my TV settings and changed the TV ARC output from "Stereo" to "Pass Through" and DD/DTS. Apparently some devices have ARC that has Lip Sync Correction. Maybe this is what corrected the problem. Not sure, all I know is the Lip Sync issue went away.
