WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.715362 - Apr 29, 2025

I haven’t updated to this latest version but am happy with the April 18 version , I realise that my requirements may not be the norm but what I have now meets my needs perfectly and I am hoping someone can tell me if this is still the case.
My preference is to use my tv with tv speaker output, I don’t need a full hifi system to listen to the news at 6:00 am ! And to be honest I only need to use Wiim input for certain programs. As it stands I can switch to tv input anytime I want to, I do then need to reset my tv to use internal speaker and that’s the way it stays until I request it to change. Btw i don’t use volume control as I use my Wiim through an amp which does that job.
So is that the way it works in this version or should i stick with what I have ?

I wrote a few days ago to say I was pleased that my Ultra had not auto-updated - but now it has!
WIIM SUPPORT - this is not sensible and is not always wanted.
I have raised this matter before and would appreciate being given the control - No should mean No !

You will have to raise a ticket to WiiM via the WiiM Home App, More, Feedback.
This is a users forum.

This is another scenario.
Ofc you can do anything now just changing the settings on the tv (output) but i'm an advocate to just cover that with proper options on wiim side.

It just needs more robust/detailed settings for HDMI-cec

Like
- change the tv sound output when wiim input changes on/off ("Smart" HDMI)
- other switches that covers scenarios

But for me the main issue od - when you fix something for other scenario, don't introduce regression that changes already working scenarios.
And this was introduced on 18-apr.

So i'm the advocate for new scenarios, but i'm also on the point "don't break existing behavior".
It's just a coincidence that i'm the user of the first scenario :-P

Finding a few oddities after this update. The interactions for my tv/avr/ultra are causing my units to do things I’m not asking them to do. Like turning the tv on when I don’t want it on . And bypassing the Ultra altogether. Also system just shuts off completely without any input from any remote.

I’m not to concerned as the next update will probably take care of this

I had to disconnect HDMI from my tv, had to buy optical to line in converter to hook up my tv to ultra.
I very rarely use sound from my tv via ultra, but problem is when i turn on tv it uses ultra output, not tv speakers.
That is unnaceptable, i turn on tv and i have to turn on hifi system to use it?
What we need is option so that hdmi arc is working ONLY when we pick hdmi arc input on ultra, other then that it should be completely turned off.

Ofc i understand other situations, but this one should be most easy to implement, turn every option off, and hdmi arc input works only when needed and is selected. simple.

This is the scenario that has been described by me and others several times in several threads, ever since the Ultra was released.

Unfortunately it seems very hard for @WiiM Team to understand this exact scenario and instead they have introduced the "Smart HDMI" that broke several other scenarios and did not fix this.

And that is exactly what should happen when the CEC Power Control is off (the one now called "Automatically output audio to WiiM when TV is on")
Hi hgo58, team

As noted in the release notes: “Power-off CEC option to be added in the next release for standby mode.”

With this option enabled, your TV will no longer detect the WiiM device when it's in standby, allowing for better control over HDMI CEC behavior.

Stay tuned for the update—coming soon!

I am not sure it's the correct solution but I will wait and see.

Thanks for looking into this.

I am having major audio sync problems ever since the latest updates, and I have not experimented with any Dolby settings or anything like that. Am I the only one?

Observations on Dolby and the new FW upgrade to simulate surround sound:

TV Output set at:
Stereo uncompressed PCM - LPCM 1536 16-bit/48 kHz (works but still has latency issues)
Dolby Digital (lossy compressed format) - AC3 1536 kbps 16-bit/48 kHz (no sync issue)
Dolby Digital Plus - as expected not supported
DTS - as expected not supported

Where exactly can I find these settings and what should I set it to to get rid of these sync issues since the latest update? As of right now I can't stand watching the TV because of the sync issues.

These are all TV settings so it depends on your TV where you could find them and if they are available at all.

For 2-channel stereo (uncompressed) linear pulse code modulation (either labelled as PCM or LPCM) is the best quality setting. If this results in sync issues, for now the fix could be to switch the TV output to Dolby Digital (which may also be labelled DD or AC3 in your TV's settings).

It probably isn't, since they mention standby mode.
So if wiim is not in standby and we are listening radio for example,
and someone turns on tv will tv see wiim and not use tv speakers since wiim is not in standby?
It should never see wiim if HDMI input is not selected
We will see.

Hi SomiKnight,

Our team is currently reviewing this use case. That said, we believe most users are unlikely to listen to the radio and watch TV with audio output simultaneously—especially when the external speaker and TV are positioned close together, as it would be difficult to hear either source clearly.

I am using wiim all day because my PC is connected to it, it's never in standby during day,
so when family member turns tv on ti hear news, what happens?
They hear nothing, auto output is off, wiim not switching, and tv is silent.
How can they hear news for example?
They have to switch input and listen to news through hifi?
But we don't want that, auto output is off for that reason, makes no sense.
Thanks for response and considering our request.

Another use case is listening to the radio with the TV on but with the TV volume turned to zero.
