WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.717053 - May 15, 2025

What's New:

1. New Radio Widget: Quickly select and play a radio station directly from the screen.
2. Audio Input Management: Choose which audio inputs to display and switch between them easily.
3. Improved Group Playback Sync: Fixed synchronization issues that occurred after applying subwoofer and main speaker delay calibration.
4. Enhanced DSD Playback: Resolved stuttering during multi-channel DSD file playback for smoother high-res listening.
5. Group Mute/Unmute via Master Device: Instantly mute or unmute the entire speaker group directly from the master device for seamless group control.
6. Device Discovery Enhancements: Improved stability and connectivity for WiiM Home, Spotify and TIDAL apps.
7. Knob Volume Step: Adjust the volume step when rotating the knob (requires the upcoming app update).

Bug Fixes:

1. A/V Sync Optimization: Enhanced audio/video synchronization for HDMI ARC to improve lip-sync accuracy.
2. Plex Playback Fix: Resolved playback failure when Secure Connections is set to "Required".
3. Standby Mode Fix: Resolved an issue preventing the device from entering standby mode when in follower mode.
4. TIDAL Connect Fix: Addressed the issue of track skipping delay and corrected track duration when using the HTTP API.
5. General Performance: Stability improvements and behind-the-scenes optimizations.

^I’m happy that WiiM kept the fine adjustment on the volume knob. Those 0,3 dB steps are one of the great functions on the products.
Of course coarser is nice for those in need.

Yes, I also observe the volume to be randomly setting itself lower, could not find the pattern for it yet but it is definitely after the last update that was again installed without me knowing, something I hate the most!
Also, the screen now randomly turns itself on for no reason when in standby, and after the set timeout goes off again. Happens several times a day.

I also see that wiim ultra is leaving standby mode without any reason. My device is connected with my TV via optical in. It is also connected to my external dac via USB. All auto sensing settings are disabled. Nevertheless, I think that wiim ultra senses the optical in and leaves standby mode without any other reason. I recently opened a ticket and support told me that the last time wiim had switched on was due to me changing the volume. Still, I think that wiim has a bug and switches on randomly. Or perhaps my device has a hardware issue and senses phantom screen touches or phantom audio volume modification... I will keep an eye on this issue

I complained recently about having firmware updates forced onto my Ultra, but the Wiim response to my request to change this was somewhere between enigmatic and 'No'.
Despite being connected almost constantly I am still on f/w 5.2.715362, and don't even get the blue highlighters from the previous version to say an update is available. Yes, I have power-cycled and disconnected (twice).
In view of the issues reported above I don't know whether to feel neglected or happy!
Is anyone else still 'In Progress' ?

It will switch on occasionally to check for updates.

But it did not switch on the display 3 times a day while doing it, prior to May 15th update...

Hi, I want to share with you what happens to my device when I try to play the files storaged in the sd card inside my mobile. It is not the sd card because it works perfectly with th play-fi app of my svs soundbase pro. I already tried resetting the wiim ultra to factory values. I already tried unplugging it from the power supply.I already tried installing a previous version of Wiim home app (when I did it, it didn't recognize the sd card at all) This thing started happening since the update. Does this same thing happen to you? Any idea how to fix it?

Has anyone else noticed changes in baseline volume per input within the last few updates?

I use Optical IN for sound from my PC and Ethernet for streaming from my NAS, and volume between those inputs was equal before, but somewhere this has changed so that the Optical IN is quieter (or Ethernet louder), making me have to adjust the volume every time I switch inputs.

Pre-gain settings might have been reset. Usually, this does not happen between firmware updates, but it could be the case. If you did factory reset your Ultra at any point in time, the Pre-Gain settings were lost for sure.

In any case, simply adjust pre-gain now, so you don't have to adjust the volume whenever you are switching inputs.
