Ongoing Beta Beta Test: DLNA Cast

The lack of participation on beta especially this one is the longest in the list. More people reporting for bug can be sort out by wiim engineers. Another grip being beta you’re device won’t get updated till you dropped and some beta don’t mark beta causing more inconvenient.

I still have my Pro Plus waiting patiently in hope of receiving a working Beta one day, but I removed three other devices off this Beta, to free them up.

Yeah, anything that fell into a beta like this, persistent groups and smart presets seem to have fallen into a hole. I had hoped that the Ultra release just announced would be in relation to them but sadly not. Maybe by Xmas??
 
I'm not expecting this to be released before Christmas, as I think that at least two or three more betas will be required to get things working correctly, although it would at least be nice to have one more beta before then.

They may had issue that is complex and hit brick wall. I did not realize that this feature is much more difficult than rc. I thought rc is much more complicated.

As I have said previously, all that I want is for it to be as good as the other casting method that was removed, as that worked perfectly well, and was great for multi-room playback with non WiiM devices. It doesn't need to be any better, although if it was I wouldn't complain.

To be honest, I've gotten rid of all of the Sonos and all other non-LinkPlay speakers for WiiM (actually, 1 Edifier MS50A that is also LinkPlay) except for the Airport Express feeding an old, cheap active speaker in the laundry room. At some point, I might have to break down and get a WiiM Mini as well. Once I feel like the kids can be responsible enough with a speaker in their rooms, I may get another couple of Edifiers or get the WiiM Speakers from AudioPro and not have to worry about DNLA Casting.
 
I see that DLNA Cast (Beta) is now rescheduled in the roadmap for the Ultra on January 15th. Is this when we can expect the next beta version, or is this supposed to be a working public released Beta version?

This feature seems to be falling further and further behind all of the other Betas, with the last Beta being dated 19th August, more than 4 months ago.

First, we would like to apologize for the extended delay in the DLNA Cast Beta Test. We have been dedicating additional resources to address the issues reported by early testers. As a result, we’ve introduced two new options to help resolve the playback stuttering problems:
  1. Audio Transcoding: This option allows you to adjust the streaming quality for casting. Available formats and bitrates include:
    • MP3 - 128 kbps
    • MP3 - 320 kbps
    • FLAC - 24-bit / 48 kHz
  2. Playback Latency: Adjust to enhance playback smoothness, as higher latency reduces interruptions.
If you are interested in beta testing this new feature, please provide your Wiim Forum username and MAC address in the Beta Test DLNA Cast link.
