Ongoing Beta Beta Test: Qobuz Connect

The last entry I've read in Qobuz Club was iirr in November 2024. And a one liner from a "Jane". Deafening silence since then.

Hey everyone! There's a new version of Qobuz Connect that's being worked on right now which should address some of the things flagged during the beta. They should be getting it pushed out to beta testers when it's ready to be played with. I'll let you know when I hear more!

The QC beta section at Qobuz Club has been quite busy (at least as busy as this WiiM subforum). Perhaps you haven't been looking in the right place?

Thanks, Ryan! Just to clarify, "they" means WiiM development? If so, I hope it addresses the top 3 issues I summarized earlier in this thread. I know Qobuz has pushed out at least 6 beta updates, the most recent about 10 days ago, IIRC, but sadly none have been able to fix them. Cheers!

Do you mean on the WiiM end? Which issues? The communication is terrible and yet on Marantz it just works since day 1

Here are my big three. The first is very annoying, and prevents me from using grouped WiiMs. The last one is annoying when it happens, but it's generally infrequent. I hope the combo of new WiiM firmware and recent Qobuz beta updates fixes all of them. :)
  • 16/44 on grouped WiiM devices;
  • Selecting a WiiM QC target after that target has been used via Chromecast or other media channel;
  • General stability of the app, particularly smooth recovery after any error condition has been encountered communicating with WiiM streamers.

and at this list you could add (at least for iOS) the bad management of "unavailable track" where QC locks when finding an unavailable track for exemple in a playlist , even if this problem can also be seen with the Wiim Home Appp.

That may be more general Qobuz issue? If you have a release or playlist where this will reliably fail, what happens if you remove variables and simply play it on your mobile device's speaker with the Qobuz app?

In this case anything works as expected. The missing song is skipped and next song played.

There is one additional issue that occurs too often for my liking, but I don't know if it's a WiiM-specific one. When streaming a playlist, sometimes the client will not be updated when the track changes, although it generally catches up when the app is given focus. It may have something to do with the phone going to sleep, or just general lack of timely synching/updating between the cloud and the app (controller). I've reported it to Qobuz, but I'll ask over at Club to see whether folks testing non-WiiM devices have seen it.

Any updates as to when WiiM will be adding more Qobuz Connect testers, or possibly adding one more user? ;)

News from today at Qobuz-Club (private space for beta testers only ...):

Hello everyone,

Our latest app versions now include a filter that only displays audio devices integrating Qobuz Connect SDK v0.9.0 or higher.

  • For Heos, this update is already in place.
  • For Wiim, the next firmware version is expected next week.
If your device no longer appears in the list, please ensure it is up to date.

Thank you for your understanding!
The Qobuz Team

Heads-up: my Ultra just received a firmware update for Qobuz Connect. There's not one available for my Pro devices as yet. Will do a quick test as soon as it's installed to see if it's visible to the latest Android QC beta (qconnect-beta07).

ETA: The Ultra is now visible to the latest Qobuz QC beta app!

Does this mean that the connect is now available to everyone? You just need to install the new beta apps and firmware?
